Demon Slayer’s manga concluded the story in 2020, and after more than five years, the anime is also in its final phase. The finale of the Hashira Training Arc sets up the premise of the Infinity Castle Arc, the final battle against the Upper Moon demons. The thousand-year-long feud between Muzan and the Demon Slayer Corps will finally come to an end, but the battle will be more difficult than anything the Demon Slayers have ever faced. After Kagaya blows up his mansion, Muzan gets temporarily injured and is baffled by the former’s insanity. However, the sacrifice of Kagaya and his family gave the Demon Slayers a small window to attack the demon progenitor. He is considerably weakened thanks to the combined intellect of Shinobu and Tamayo, but it will take a lot more than that to put down the monster.

Unfortunately, the Demon Slayers didn’t get a chance to fight Muzan properly before getting sucked into the Infinity Castle. Before the real fight against the final antagonist begins, they must take down the Upper Moons, Muzan’s strongest demons. A trailer was released last weekend, hyping up some of the best fights in the arc, such as Shinobu vs. Doma and Zenitsu vs. Kaigaku. However, the biggest highlight of the trailer was the confrontation between Tanjiro and Akaza, who stand against each other again after the Infinity Train Arc. The film will hit the Japanese theaters on July 18th, 2025, but the U.S. fans will have to wait till September 12th. As fans await the upcoming film, Crunchyroll’s CCO shares via a branc.jp interview how the unique decision of a canon trilogy film will become a milestone for theatrical anime.

In an interview with Blanc, Asa Suehira, the Chief Content Officer (CCO) of Crunchyroll, talks about the wide range of topics, including the growth of the anime industry, the massive success of Solo Leveling, as well as the upcoming Demon Slayer film.

When asking about the development of theatrical anime, the interviewer mentions Demon Slayer, which will be a big topic this year. Sueihara replies, “That’s right. Since the huge success of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Infinity Train, the attention of theater owners around the world to anime has changed.”

Sueihara continues, “Infinity Castle Arc will also be released on an unprecedented scale. I think it will be a milestone movie for theatrical anime, so I think it is Crunchyroll’s responsibility to deliver solid results.”

After the record-breaking success of the Mugen Train film, Ufotable decided to adapt the entire final arc into a trilogy film. Mugen Train was the highest-grossing anime movie of all time, breaking records across the globe. Thanks to that, Ufotable was able to make this bold move of adapting the final arc in a trilogy film, which is quite rare in the anime industry. Infinity Castle includes the most intense battles in the series as well as highly emotional moments, which can be adapted quite beautifully thanks to Ufotable’s stellar animation and direction. Sueihara promises the unprecedented scale of being released in over 80 countries.

Demon Slayer Shinobu

All the major characters in the Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle film will have their moments to shine as the final showdown against the demons will be more brutal than ever. Ufotable is adapting the final arc in a trilogy film, and the first film has already shared its match-ups. The trailer, which was released last weekend, features most of the major characters in the final arc. While everyone will be fighting some of the most powerful demons in history, the trailer specifically highlights Shinobu vs. Doma, Zenitsu vs. Kaigaku, and Tanjiro vs. Akaza. Shinobu’s opponent is the Upper Moon Two, who is way stronger than the Upper Moons Tanjiro and the others defeated before the Hashira Training Arc.

The Infinity Castle has an unpredictable layout that’s almost impossible to navigate. The Demon Slayers were scattered all across the castle after forcefully getting sucked in, and Shinobu faced Doma all by herself. Doma has already been introduced in the anime, but his true powers will only be revealed in the Infinity Castle Arc. He is also the only demon who has the habit of specifically targeting women, since eating their flesh gives demons a lot more strength. Even so, the Hashira won’t be easy to take down. The first part of the trilogy film will hit the Japanese theaters on July 18th, 2025. However, U.S. fans will have to wait until September 12th before watching the film.

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Film Will Reveal the Real Reason Shinobu Fought Doma

Demon Slayer Doma
Ufotable

Although Shinobu’s a Hashira, she lacks brute strength, unlike the other Demon Slayers. Because the Insect Hashira is smaller and has no arm strength, she relies on poison to defeat the demons. Shinobu is the only one who created an unconventional way of fighting demons. She also makes up for her lack of strength with exceptional speed, and she can kill a demon in the blink of an eye. However, even someone like her will be at a significant disadvantage against Upper Moon Two, one of Muzan’s most powerful subordinates.

However, Shinobu vs Doma isn’t a random matchup; there’s a lot of story behind it. Out of all the Hashira, Shinobu and Giyu were the only ones who didn’t participate in the training. While Giyu’s reason was already revealed in the anime, Shinobu’s goal still remains a mystery. From her conversation with Kanao, it’s evident she’s planning something major before the series bows out. Shinobu’s hatred for demons, the conversation with Kanao, and the truth behind her sister’s death will all be revealed in this arc.

For its whole history, one of the most troubling parts of anime has been its relationship to its source material. For any given adaptation, there are inevitable arguments about whether the source or the anime is better. With the industry looking toward using anime to save failed manga, these discussions might just intensify. For others, though, the situation is pretty cut-and-dry.

At this point, we’ll be earnest and say that not all of these manga are horrible; in fact, some of them are pretty great. The industry has a built-in filter—if a manga gets an anime, it’s probably already pretty decent. After all, animation studios don’t have infinite resources to work with. Nonetheless, there are countless incredible anime that outshine their manga renditions. Whether by making sense of a dense forestry of illegible paneling, expanding paper-thin narratives, or bringing out elements that simply don’t do well in the manga format, these anime are top-notch examples of how thoughtful adaptation can improve any story.

1) Dororo

Dororo anime
MAPPA

Dororo is one of the best anime ever. It’s a gripping shonen story about a samurai without a master named Hyakkimaru, and a young boy named Dororo who accompanies him. The series has two different anime adaptations—a 1969 effort from Mushi Production, and a 2019 effort from MAPPA. Each has its own strengths and weaknesses, but generally, the latter is recommended to those trying to get into the series today.

Fans of Dororo‘s anime might be surprised to learn that its manga really isn’t that great. Or rather, it shows its age tremendously: Osamu Tezuka’s original manga debuted in 1967, back when shonen storylines were significantly simpler than today’s. MAPPA’s gorgeous adaptation follows the same basic premise as Tezuka’s Dororo, but it also deviates significantly. Beyond the usual elevations, MAPPA’s Dororo implements a great deal of narrative depth that was otherwise absent. On its own, Dororo is unimpressive to readers today; meanwhile, aesthetically and narratively, 2019’s Dororo is one of the most beautiful anime ever made.

2) K-On!

K-On! started out as 4-koma, or a comic with four cells and a traditionally rigid narrative structure. As a story about five girls making music together in the Light Music Club, it’s obvious that the music that an animated adaptation can provide would lift up K-On!’s story, but the problems run deeper into its narrative structure. K-On!‘s original comic was lacking in a lot of dimensions that the show would become known for.

This, in turn, became a job for Kyoto Animation, a legendary studio with a reputation for massively building on their source materials. One fan ran the numbers in a publicly available Google Doc, finding that K-On!’s anime is over 80% original material. Needless to say, Kyoto Animation’s expert work with K-On! brought depth, dimension, and heart to a comic that was limited in its storytelling and lacking in impact.

3) Sailor Moon

Sailor Moon anime
Toei Animation

Sailor Moon is an iconic magical girl anime, and its best-kept secret is that the source material isn’t all that great. Granted, some people find it very charming, but there’s a serious lack of certain basic elements. Take the fact that it’s offensively rushed. The manga is far more serious and way darker, which appeals to many. But the side effect is that Sailor Moon‘s manga cuts straight to action without taking time for characterization. Not to mention, Naoko Takeuchi isn’t the best at rendering her ideas on the page.

By comparison, although Sailor Moon‘s anime is far more lighthearted, it ensures characters outside of Usagi and Mamoru are developed. A big part of this is also its liberal use of filler. Filler does a tremendous job of expanding Sailor Moon‘s world and building out concepts its manga iteration left underdeveloped; it also creates room for much-appreciated comic relief and depth. Add in the additional clarity that animation brought to the manga’s sometimes-confusing battles, and the anime emerges a clear winner.

4) Usagi Drop

Usagi Drop, also known by its English title Bunny Drop, is a heartwarming story that plays with slice-of-life, comedy, and drama elements. In Usagi Drop, the single 30-yegreatar-old Daikichi finds himself suddenly saddled with a six-year-old daughter, Rin. Although he’s eternally uncertain about his abilities, she has a hugely positive impact on his own life. The manga is great until it isn’t: a ten-year time skip leads down some iffy roads as Rin, now a high-schooler, develops feelings for Daikichi.

The anime decides to say no to the time skip, and fans couldn’t be happier with the decision. In fact, many of them choose to consider the anime’s ending the real one, some even playfully denying that Usagi Drop‘s manga ever existed to begin with. Add that to the fact that it’s an all-around lovely watch with beguiling art and pacing, and the anime comes out a clear victor over its source material.

5) JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure

Admittedly, this one is kind of cheating. JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is an incredible manga, and its creator Hirohiko Araki is a landmark talent on the level of Urasawa (Monster, 20th Century Boys) and Miura (Berserk). But, with that said, David Production’s incredible adaptation of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure elevates the source material to such a nuts degree that it would be sacrilegious not to mention it. The list isn’t “great manga to incredible anime”, but bear with us. There are numerous examples of this expert handling.

In a general sense, JoJo‘s fast-paced and often convoluted action is better represented on the screen than in manga format. The immeasurable difference between the manga and anime depictions of Golden Wind‘s Diavolo’s Stand, King Crimson, is enough to demonstrate the difference that motion, sound, and color can make. However, the benefit of hindsight also adds a lot: for example, David Production cleaned up manga’s presentation of simultaneous events on July 15th in Diamond is Unbreakable. For purposes of clarity, JoJo‘s anime wins every day—even if Araki’s manga is already fantastic. There’s a reason fans think an anime will take Steel Ball Run to the next level.

6) Houseki no Kuni

Land of the Lustrous anime
Orange

Houseki no Kuni, also known by its English title Land of the Lustrous, is a brilliant effort by mangaka Haruko Ichikawa. However, it’s a seinen action manga based around immortal humanoid gemstones called Gems. It goes without saying that gemstones are, well, colored, which should already tell you where the problems emerge. As a work of art, Houseki no Kuni‘s manga is a gorgeous effort with high visual appeal. As a story, it’s hard to follow; the manga’s many characters blend together, and it takes a lot of cognitive effort to understand what’s happening.

The 2017 anime by Studio Orange wasn’t just a stunning adaptation. It was so good that it convinced countless people that CG anime had potential. As for the core narrative of Houseki no Kuni, it brought attention to scenes that were insignificant in the manga, in turn shedding light on some underappreciated moments. The presentation is also miles better. Believe it or not, color is as important for telling Gems apart as they are for telling, well, gems apart. The anime format turns the abstract, hard-to-parse manga on its head, for the better.

7) Ghost in the Shell

Major Matoko Kutsaragi looks out over Tokyo

Ghost in the Shell is another example that by no means is a bad manga. However, for most fans, Masamune Shirow’s The Ghost in the Shell would be pretty much unrecognizable in comparison to the 1995 Ghost in the Shell from Production I.G, directed by Mamoru Oshii (who also directed its 2004 follow-up, Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence). It’s also the film, rather than the manga, that would set the tone for the entire franchise built around the manga.

But the manga is nothing like the film, nor is it like any of the acclaimed offshoot media like 2002’s anime serial Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex. Shirow emphasized very different things, putting humor and characterization at the forefront. Anybody familiar with Oshii’s style will know that those things aren’t exactly his bag: Oshii emphasized atmosphere, philosophical weight, and the visual/narrative dimensions, only adapting a few sequences from the original manga. As far as Ghost in the Shell goes, it was 100% Oshii who put it on the map.

8) Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba

Demon Slayer Tanjiro and Nezuko Season 1
Ufotable

It’s probably controversial to throw Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba in here, but among fans, it’s practically a universal opinion that the anime is leagues better than the manga. Bear in mind, it’s not fair to call Demon Slayer a horrible manga. It’s not. Gotouge’s Demon Slayer debuted in 2016, and it’s been called a “good enough” manga by some: it definitely does the trick, but it doesn’t do anything special for its time and place. Its story and mechanics feel very generic in manga format.

Then along came Ufotable’s 2019 adaptation and the game changed entirely. Again, while Demon Slayer‘s manga was fine on its own, its fan base exploded after the anime―and for good reason. Ufotable’s meticulous, beautiful animation and expert storyboarding, casting, and pacing filled out the lackluster manga, allowing certain elements to shine and the rest to breathe. Against all odds, Demon Slayer became a franchise that could age like a fine wine, showing that even a middling premise can enrapture potential fans with the right execution.

9) Ga-Rei: Zero

Ga-Rei is a bit of a different case. The story, art, and characters don’t shine at all. As a whole, the manga is incredibly mediocre. The premise is incredibly run-of-the-mill, predicated on Kensuke Nimura’s ability to see spirits and his recruitment to a government agency tasked with fighting them off. There’s also a teased romance between Kensuke and his spirit-devouring partner, Kagura, but nothing ever comes of it.

By every metric, the story is unimpressive, and it was received by fans as such; nonetheless, a following in Japan led to the series getting an anime. It wasn’t, however, an adaptation of the manga itself. Instead, Ga-Rei received a prequel: Ga-Rei: Zero, handled by AIC Spirits (Date a Live, Maken-Ki!) and asread. (Arifureta, Shuffle!). To the practically unanimous surprise of the Western anime community, Ga-Rei: Zero was way better than its source material. Anime fans loved its music, characters, and thoughtful animation. They were also hooked by its first episode, enjoying its meticulous writing and execution all the way to the equally beloved ending.

10) Mob Psycho 100

Studio BONES

Maybe this is a cheap shot, but it’s worth mentioning anyway: everybody knows that art isn’t ONE’s strong suit. That even comes across in adaptations of his two best-known works, One-Punch Man and Mob Psycho 100 with his quirky character designs. On one hand, they are indeed a personal style for the artist (who emphasizes comedy over glamor), but on the other, they’re also just a reflection of his background: a webcomic artist who caught some fame, rather than a professional mangaka. ONE’s strength has always been his storytelling, and that’s what carries Mob Psycho 100‘s manga.

Where One-Punch Man was remade with art by Murata for Weekly Shonen Jump, Studio Bones was working with the bare-bones publication of Mob Psycho 100 illustrated by ONE. Bones’ adaptation breathes an unbelievable amount of life into ONE’s panels which are, whether by necessity or habit, often stiff and lacking in depth―especially when it comes to depicting action or environments. Combine that with brilliant sound design and great voice acting, and ONE’s charming writing is finally given room to shine.

At the end of the day, there are a lot of reasons an anime might outshine its source, although anime failing their manga counterparts is way more common. Like the entries on this list show, even well-regarded manga have some essential shortcomings that can be ironed out in their anime format. We think it’s pretty hard to disagree with our picks if you see where we’re coming from—which is why we’d love to hear your thoughts below!

In the meantime, if you’re looking for some stellar manga we can’t wait to see adapted, click through to the list below!

Demon Slayer is set to take over theaters this Summer with the long-awaited Infinity Castle movie. The series, based on the hit manga by Koyoharu Gotouge, is one of the most successful anime of all time. The first feature film, Mugen Train (released in 2020), is the highest-grossing anime movie of all time, and the series is one of the most popular on streaming platforms like Crunchyroll and Netflix. But, like Tanjiro constantly pushing through injury, the series isn’t taking a break, as yet another adaptation is on the way.

Fans are getting Demon Slayer overload this Summer. Mugen Train was rereleased in theaters in 4K, the entire series streamed for free on YouTube, and the show’s official X account has been overwhelming fans with content for the last 54 days. To top it all off, Demon Slayer fans will get to enjoy a new novelization of the manga this Summer, alongside the Infinity Castle movie.

Demon Slayer Is Getting a New Novel

Demon Slayer novel cover
Jump Books

To celebrate the release of Infinity Castle in Japanese theaters on July 18th, a new novelization of the arc will be released the same month. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Infinity Castle Movie 1 – Akaza’s Return is the new novel written by Aya Yajima, which will be released in Japan on July 22nd.

The novel will take the first part of the Infinity Castle arc and transform it into beautiful prose. The novel is over 240 pages, and also includes four color illustrations. Infinity Castle Movie 1 – Akaza’s Return isn’t the first novelization of Demon Slayer. Yajima has previously written three novel adaptations of the franchise. The Flower of Happiness was the first novel, published in 2019, and it explored Tanjiro and Zenitsu’s lives before joining the Demon Slayer Corps.

The official synopsis for the new novel reads, “Muzan Kibutsuji appears at the Ubuyashiki estate, headquarters of the Demon Slayer Corps. Tanjiro and the Hashira rush to protect their master, but they are suddenly cast into a mysterious space by Muzan’s power. Where they land is none other than the demons’ stronghold, Infinity Castle. Thus, the final battle between the Demon Slayer Corps and the demons begins.”

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Is Aiming to Break Box Office Records

To say that the release of Infinity Castle is the most anticipated anime of 2025 is a massive understatement. Mugen Train arc’s box office achievement (above) is already impressive, but fans are expecting Infinity Castle to blow that record out of the water. Not only is Infinity Castle the second Demon Slayer movie (which is hype enough to fill theaters), it is also the first movie in a new trilogy that will bring Demon Slayer‘s anime to a close. Infinity Castle releases in US theaters on September 12th.

Obanai Iguro

The first of the final three movies in the Demon Slayer franchise, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle, has released its trailer ahead of its Japanese theatrical debut on July 18th. As expected, the trailer showcases stellar visuals and emphasizes the vital roles of the Demon Slayer Corps’ elite warriors, the Hashira, each of whom is poised to play a significant part in the climactic war. The 90-second preview focuses particularly on two major battles that will be featured in the upcoming film, highlighting the Hashira Shinobu Kocho and Giyu Tomioka, along with the series protagonist, Kamado Tanjiro, engaged in separate confrontations. The Insect Hashira, Shinobu, is set to face Upper Rank 2, Doma, while the Water Hashira, Giyu, joins Tanjiro in a battle against Upper Rank 3, Akaza.

That said, the other Hashira are far from sidelined. The trailer offers glimpses of their involvement, with the role of Obanai Iguro, the Snake Hashira, standing out from the very beginning. The film is set to depict a massive assault by thousands of demons, ambushing the trapped Demon Slayers within the ever-shifting structure of the Infinity Castle. Navigating this chaotic stronghold while fending off relentless attacks demands not only strength but sharp intellect, qualities the Hashiras have surely got, and from the trailer, it seems this is exactly what Iguro’s first key contribution in this final stand against the demon onslaught is going to be.

ufotable

Iguro’s Role as a Hashira Will Be Pivotal in the Final Battle Against the Demons

The 90-second trailer opens with the Snake Hashira, Obanai Iguro, launching an attack against the hordes of demons charging toward the Love Hashira, Mitsuri Kanroji. Since the trailer doesn’t show any further scenes of Iguro, it appears that, for now, his role will focus on thinning the demon numbers, clearing the path for the other Demon Slayers to advance toward the ultimate target, Kibutsuji Muzan. However, confronting the demon hordes won’t be Iguro’s only task. One of the central challenges lies in the Infinity Castle itself, with its endless, shifting structure. The key to overcoming this threat is defeating Nakime, the castle’s manipulator.

With Mitsuri Kanroji, the Love Hashira, also not yet shown fighting an Upper Rank demon and instead taking on the demon hordes, it’s highly plausible that she will join Iguro in the battle against Nakime. This pairing makes sense, especially given the long-hinted romantic connection between the two Hashira. Their final stand against Nakime could serve as a turning point in their bond, potentially culminating in a deeper romantic relationship. As Demon Slayer often explores the backstories of both demons and Demon Slayers, this movie may also offer the first glimpse into Iguro’s past, adding emotional depth to the climax, which could help understand his affection for the Love Hashira.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is gearing up for its big return with a new film hitting theaters in Japan later this Summer, and the first trailer for Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle has given fans the first look at Zenitsu Agatsuma’s final fight. Demon Slayer ended the Hashira Training Arc with the announcement that the anime would continue not with another season of the series, but instead with a new trilogy of feature films adapting the Infinity Castle arc from Koyoharu Gotoge’s original manga series. Which means that the anime is about to go all out for its final battles.

Tanjiro Kamado and the others are going to be facing off against Muzan Kibutsuji’s final demonic forces, and each of the key characters is poised to take on a notable opponent of their own. Zenitsu’s case is a particularly interesting one, however, as he’s going to be facing an opponent that has yet to be fully debut in the anime franchise. That’s what’s being teased with the trailer showcasing a very intense looking Zenitsu facing down this new foe. Check out the trailer for Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle below.

What’s Going On With Zenitsu?

This much more serious take on Zenitsu is clearly much different than anything fans have seen from him in franchise past, and it really took a turn during the Hashira Training arc. Demon Slayer’s fourth season saw Zenitsu training together with everyone else, and acting as goofy as he did before. But suddenly after receiving a mysterious secret message, Zenitsu started to train on his own and became much more resolute about the final battles. This even continued through the TV anime’s finale as his demeanor seemed steeled despite the fact he was plunging into the Infinity Castle itself.

Without giving too much away about what the content of the letter was, Zenitsu himself got such bad news that he needs to make sure he deals with it personally. That ties into the brand new member of the Upper Ranks that we’ll meet in the coming film, and the demon that has yet to be fully revealed in motion. It’s one of the biggest fights coming within the Infinity Castle arc, and Zenitsu has some big things he needs to handle in order to resolve something for his Breathing Style overall.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is finally hitting theaters in Japan later this Summer with the first in a brand new movie trilogy, and Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle is getting Akaza ready for his comeback with a new look ahead of its premiere. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle will be picking up right where the TV anime left off after the end of its fourth season, and that means Tanjiro Kamado and the others are going to be fighting for their lives against Muzan Kibutsuji’s final demonic forces. It’s going to be a tough one considering who’s left.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle will be hitting theaters next month in Japan after much waiting, and Tanjiro is about to face off against someone he’s brushed past before. Akaza is one of the strongest demons under Muzan, and although he’s not the top of the Upper Ranks, he’s been hailed as one of the strongest after killing Kyojuro Rengoku during the Mugen Train arc. Now as he prepares to return with the Infinity Castle arc, Demon Slayer has dropped a cool new poster for Akaza that you can check out below.

ufotable

What Is Akaza’s Role in Infinity Castle?

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle will be adapting the massive Infinity Castle arc from Koyoharu Gotoge’s original manga series, and this means it will be taking on the final battles between the Demon Slayers and the demons. Tanjiro has been fearing Akaza ever since he saw the demon in motion during the Mugen Train arc, but it’s now going to be a fierce face off between the two of them. Tanjiro only looked at him from afar the first time around, but now he’s going to be squaring off completely against Akaza on the demon’s home turf. It’s a totally different situation now.

Since Mugen Train, Demon Slayer has been offering new looks at Akaza within Muzan’s ranks. Considering his overwhelming strength it was already a surprise to find out that he was only the third strongest of the final demons, and has some demons that even he’ll back off from. This has offered some nuance as to what to expect from Akaza moving forward, but that’s all going to come to a head once he starts making his move in the Infinity Castle. It really is going to be the beginning of the end from here on out.

Demon Slayer Infinity Castle Tanjiro

Demon Slayer’s anime is finally in its endgame since the Infinity Castle trilogy will adapt the final arc. The film will kick off from the Hashira Training Arc’s finale. While the arc in the manga ends before Muzan’s appearance in the Ubuyashiki manor, the anime decided to have a special premiere to set up the series’ most highly anticipated arc. Despite functioning for over a thousand years, the Demon Slayer Corps hasn’t been able to defeat Muzan Kibutsuji and put an end to his terror. While the existence of demons isn’t public knowledge, there have been considerable casualties over the centuries. Muzan is confident about his strength, and he believes he will become untouchable once he absorbs Nezuko.

However, just as Muzan has been a nuisance to the Demon Slayer Corps, the opposite is also true. He already has three of the Upper Six demons and knows it’s time for the final showdown against the Corps. After Kagaya blows up his mansion and kills his wife and two daughters in the process, he gives the Demon Slayers a small window to ambush the demon progenitor. Thanks to the combined efforts of Shinobu and Tamayo, Muzan has been considerably weakened, but it’s not nearly enough to kill him. If things were bad enough, the Demon Slayers are sucked into the Infinity Castle, Muzan’s secret hideout where the Upper Rank demons await their enemies. Tanjiro is one of the Demon Slayers forced into the castle, and the trailer confirms his opponent will be none other than Akaza.

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Film Will Have Tanjiro Face-Off Against Akaza

Tanjiro and Akaza first met each other in the Infinity Train Arc after the mission was already over. Rengoku and the others successfully defeated the demon controlling the Infinity Train and saved the passengers. Just when they sighed a relief, Akaza showed up out of nowhere and challenged Rengoku. At the time, Tanjiro had sustained severe injuries, and Rengoku warned him not to move.

ufotable

The Hashira stood against the Upper Rank Three demon and put up an incredible fight. Even so, defeating someone like Akaza on his own was almost impossible, so despite receiving fatal injuries, Rengoku tried to keep Akaza out in the open till the sun rose. Akaza barely managed to run away, but Tanjiro threw his sword and pierced the demon’s chest. The young Demon Slayer even declared Akaza the loser since he ran away, unlike Rengoku, who stood his ground till the end.

The two will clash again in the Infinity Castle Arc, and it will be Tanjiro’s biggest fight yet. The 90-second trailer dedicates the 2/3rd part of it to the two, especially Akaza, whose story will finally be revealed in this arc. Tanjiro definitely has a score to settle with Akaza, but it’s not going to be easy even with his Demon Slayer Mark.

Tanjiro Has Come a Long Way Over the Years, But Is He Strong Enough to Defeat Akaza?

The three Upper Rank demons are on an entirely another level than the lower three of the Upper Moons. When he first saw Tanjiro, Akaza deemed him “weak” and was ready to strike him down first before fighting Rengoku. Seeing Tanjiro in his wounded state, Akaza was sure that he didn’t have what it takes. His attitude towards Rengoku was completely different since the demon acknowledged his strength. After the Infinity Train Arc, Tanjiro fought against several powerful opponents and grew stronger with each battle. Not to mention, he became exponentially stronger during the Hashira Training Arc after going through the hellish training.

Tanjiro not only has better control over his Sun Breathing Technique, but he can also switch between Water and Sun elements whenever he wishes. His Demon Slayer Mark has also changed its shape, resembling the one Yoriichi Tsugikuni had. This is a sign of his strength, but even after all that, Akaza will prove to be the biggest challenge he has ever faced. Tanjiro surely can’t fight against someone like that on his own, so Giyu joins him, and their teamwork is exceptional. The battle isn’t merely thrilling but also has high emotional stakes for all three of them.

Tokito as seen in the trailer of the Demon Slayer upcoming movie

The first installment in the Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle movie trilogy, set to release on July 18, 2025, in Japanese theaters, has finally unveiled its highly anticipated first trailer. The trailer highlights the climactic final battle between the demon slayers and the demons, confirming an all-out war. Nearly every major villain makes an appearance, including the fearsome Upper Moon demons. Among them, two stand out the most, Upper Rank 2, Doma, and the fan-favorite, Upper Rank 3, Akaza.

The trailer confirms that much of the first movie will focus on these two powerful demons and their respective battles. This focus also gives early-introduced Hashira, Giyu Tomioka and Shinobu Kocho, their much-deserved spotlight, while the protagonist, Kamado Tanjiro, shines even brighter. That said, the trailer ensures that other Hashira won’t be sidelined. It offers a first glimpse at another fan favorite, the prodigy Hashira, who is even younger than Tanjiro, Muichiro Tokito. Tokito’s role in the third season of Demon Slayer revealed his importance, and his interaction with Tanjiro led to significant emotional character development. It is evident that Tokito’s involvement will be crucial in the upcoming final war, and the trailer may have also hinted at who his opponent will be.

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle First Trailer Hints at Muichiro’s Final Battle

With Muichiro being one of the strongest Hashira, possibly ranking within the top five, his involvement in the final war will be invaluable. However, the fact that the first trailer doesn’t show him encountering any demons, particularly the Upper Moons, suggests that his battle is being reserved for later, likely against an Upper Moon whose rank may even surpass that of Doma and Akaza. It’s clear not every fight will be featured in the first installment of the trilogy, and if Muichiro is indeed set to face Upper Moon Rank One, Kokushibo, that confrontation may only occur after the defeats of Akaza and Doma, possibly near the end of the second movie.

It’s also evident that Muichiro won’t face Kokushibo alone. Despite his strength, defeating Upper Moon Rank Four required the assistance of others. Given that Rank One is significantly more powerful than the other demons, Muichiro taking him on solo would be impossible. He will likely be joined by other powerful Hashira, particularly the strongest ones, who, like Muichiro, only appeared briefly in the trailer without being shown fighting specific demons. This includes Gyomei Himejima, the strongest Hashira. With the Wind, Snake, and even the Love Hashira not yet matched against any opponent in the trailer, they may also join the battle. So, although fans are given a first look at Muichiro in the Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle trailer, it may be some time before he receives his full spotlight, possibly not until the second installment.

Demon Slayer Akaza

The first film of the Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle trilogy is all set for its Japanese release on July 18th, 2025. International release dates will vary by region, with the U.S. premiere set for September 12, 2025. The animation studio behind the anime, Ufotable, just released the trailer in both subbed and dubbed versions. The film will pick up the story from the finale of the Hashira Training Arc, adapting the final showdown between the Demon Slayers and the demons. Muzan showed up at the Ubuyashiki manor, unaware that the head of the Demon Slayer Corps had an insane plan in his mind. Kagaya blows up his manor and dies along with his wife and two of his five children. Muzan was taken aback by the sudden explosion when the Demon Slayers ambushed him.

However, despite being weakened to some degree, he is practically untouchable. Amid the chaos, all the Demon Slayers are forced inside Muzan’s hideout, the Infinity Castle, where the Upper Ranks are waiting for their enemies. The Demon Slayers are at a serious disadvantage since they are separated, and the castle is almost impossible to navigate. As the fight continues, we will watch some of the most intense and heartbreaking scenes in the series. The trailer, running for 90 seconds, features several characters, but Akaza steals the show as always.

While the first 60 seconds of the trailer show all the major characters, the rest of the 30 seconds creates a deep impression about Akaza and his face-off with Tanjiro. Even the stunning key visual of the film features him with Tanjiro’s reflection shown in his eye. The trailer plays the iconic soundtrack dedicated to the Upper Rank Three demon as he gets ready for the fight, referring to it as “party,” implying he will enjoy the face-off. We also see his Blood Demon Art, Destructive Death. Akaza has been a fan-favorite villain since the Infinity Train film, where he fought against Rengoku, the Flame Hashira.

Rengoku, Tanjiro, and the others defeated the demon controlling the train and saved all the passengers. However, Akaza’s unexpected appearance results in Rengoku’s tragic death, which leaves Tanjiro completely heartbroken. He chased after the demon, who ran away as soon as the sun was up. Tanjiro declares Akaza’s defeat since the demon had to flee the battle after inflicting fatal wounds on Rengoku. Akaza’s pride was hurt, but he knew there was some truth to that. This will be their first encounter since that moment, and as the trailer suggests, it will be Tanjiro’s biggest fight in the final arc.

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Will Reveal Everything About Akaza

Akaza Blood Demon Art Demon Slayer
Ufotable

One thing we can be sure about Demon Slayer is that a majority of the demons will always have some kind of backstory, especially the Upper Ranks. The demon’s actions, appearance, and even their powers are often related to their human selves. In Akaza’s case, his Destructive Death resembles a form of martial arts, which he uses to fight. Among all the Upper Moons, Akaza is the only demon who fights others using his fists, and nothing else. The sheer force behind each blow is devastating, living up to the name of his Blood Demon Art.

Akaza is one of the most fascinating villains of Demon Slayer. Considering how he doesn’t mindlessly kill people, unlike most demons, and how he refuses to eat women despite Doma’s persistence, there’s more to him than meets the eye. He only lives for the thrill of the battle and respects those who are genuinely strong. His fight with Rengoku was much more than a clash against two enemies. Akaza had the upper hand all along, yet he couldn’t help but crave more thrill.

He offered Rengoku a chance to become a demon since he believed he would be a waste for such a talented man to simply die. During his clash with Tanjiro, the series will explore Akaza’s backstory and explain everything about him, the strange marks on his body, the reason he loves fighting so much, as well as why he refuses to eat women. On the other hand, Tanjiro will push through his limits to ensure the demon is finally defeated.

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle finally gave anime fans a new look at the first of the shonen franchise’s final film trilogy, giving viewers brief glimpses of the Demon Slayer Corps and Muzan’s forces butting heads. Set to release next month in Japan, North American fans will have to wait a tad longer to see Tanjiro’s return to the silver screen. Luckily, we here at ComicBook.com are up to speed on Demon Slayer’s manga and are more than happy to dive deep into the recent trailer. The Love Hashira, Mitsuri Kanroji, is featured briefly in the trailer and her final fight is right around the corner.

Without diving too deeply into spoiler territory for those who haven’t read the manga, the Love Hashira will be taking on an opponent that some might not see coming. Luckily, she’ll have back-up for the first film of the Infinity Castle trilogy as the Demon Slayer Corps works their way to Muzan. When last we saw Mitsuri, she had Tanjiro and company undergo some hilarious training methods to prepare them for the road ahead. Placing the young would-be Hashira into a ballet session that pushed the swordsmen to their limit, the Love Hashira would go on to join her comrades in taking on Muzan as she too was dragged into the Infinity Castle. You can check out the new trailer below and get a brief glimpse at Mitsuri as she stares down a wave of demons that are making their way toward her.

The Infinity Castle Expands

Western anime fans can expect Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle to arrive in North American theaters on September 12th, but the release windows for the next two films to round out the trilogy remain anyone’s guess. As of the writing of this article, studio Ufotable has not hinted at the films releasing year after year, meaning that the final film could still be some time away. With the first Infinity Castle film widely hyped in the anime world, the movie will have its biggest competition from the Demon Slayer series itself.

To this day, Demon Slayer: Mugen Train remains the biggest, most profitable anime film of all time, bringing in hundreds of millions of dollars and helping to put the shonen franchise on the map. While the shonen story saw two following movies in Demon Slayer: To The Swordsmith Village and Demon Slayer: To The Hashira Training, both were compilation films that gathered the television series’ episodes together for their theatrical runs. With Infininty Castle being made strictly for the silver screen, it will be interesting to see if this will be enough for Tanjiro’s next movie to be the biggest of the franchise and in the anime world.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba will be coming back to theaters in a huge new way with a brand new trilogy of feature films, and the franchise has revealed the new theme songs for the first new film in the trilogy ahead of its big debut. Demon Slayer is readying a new trilogy to adapt the massive Infinity Castle arc from Koyoharu Gotoge’s original manga series, and with it will finally showcase the final battles between Tanjiro Kamado and the Demon Slayers against Muzan Kibutsuji’s final forces. But the film has been fairly light in terms of actually showing off the film itself in motion.

With Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle Arc ready to hit theaters in Japan later this July, we have finally gotten the first full trailer for the new film. This new trailer not only shows off the new film in motion for the first real time since it was first announced to be in the works, but also confirms the theme songs will feature a returning Aimer and LiSA, who will be handling the opening and ending theme songs for the new film respectively.

New Demon Slayer Movie Theme Songs Revealed

As revealed in this newest update, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle Arc will feature two theme songs that will likely serve as the opening and ending. The first of the theme songs is titled “A World Where the Sun Never Rises” as performed by Aimer, and the second of the new theme songs is titled “Shine in the Cruel Night” as performed by LiSA. These artists are likely going to sound familiar to Demon Slayer fans as they have both provided some huge theme songs for the Demon Slayer TV anime in the past, so now they’re going to help it all come to an end.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle Arc is going to be spread across three different feature film releases, but details for the follow up films have yet to be announced as of the time of this publication. So it’s yet to be revealed if these theme songs will be shared across all three, or are just going to be around for the first of these new films. But with it finally coming to theaters in Japan this Summer, it won’t be too much longer before we get to see it all come together with each new release.

What Is Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle About?

Picking up right after the events of Demon Slayer: Hashira Training Arc, Tanjiro and the others are now in the midst of the final fights against Muzan’s forces. Sony Pictures Entertainment and Crunchyroll begin to tease it as such, “As the Demon Slayer Corps members and Hashira engaged in a group strength training program, the Hashira Training, in preparation for the forthcoming battle against the demons, Muzan Kibutsuji appears at the Ubuyashiki Mansion.”

The synopsis continues with, “With the head of the Demon Corps in danger, Tanjiro and the Hashira rush to the headquarters but are plunged into a deep descent to a mysterious space by the hands of Muzan Kibutsuji. The destination of where Tanjiro and Demon Slayer Corps have fallen is the demons’ stronghold – the Infinity Castle. And so, the battleground is set as the final battle between the Demon Slayer Corps and the demons ignites.”

If you wanted to check out more of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba before the new movie hits theaters this year, you can now check out the previous seasons streaming with platforms such as Hulu, Crunchyroll, and Netflix.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is gearing up to make its comeback to theatrical screens with the first in a new trilogy of films, and now fans have gotten to see the film in motion with the first real trailer for Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle. When the fourth season of the TV anime came to an end with its adaptation of the Hashira Training Arc, it was announced that the Demon Slayer anime would return not with a new season but instead a full theatrical feature film trilogy adapting the massive Infinity Castle arc from Koyoharu Gotoge’s orginal manga.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle will begin hitting theaters around the world later this Summer and North America this Fall, but it has been playing fairly coy about revealing actual footage from the films themselves. This first film is drawing closer, and fans have only gotten to see a few still images and character highlighting posters leading to the film’s release. But now that it’s reached a new milestone, fans have gotten to see a brand new trailer for the first film that actually shows what it’s going to look like. Check it out in the video below along with a brand new poster.

What to Know for Demon Slayer’s New Trailer

Demon Slayer was slated to return with its very first feature film, Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train, and now that it’s hit in Japan and prepares for its international release, it also came with a new sneak peek trailer for Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle. There was a hope that this new trailer would also make its way online, but the bigger concern was that we would get to see footage from the new film at all. With its theatrical release approaching very quickly (and only being a couple of months out from its drop in Japan), we’re likely going to see much more.

Much like the excitement surrounding the Mugen Train feature film when it first hit theaters, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle is going to be a brand new entry for the anime franchise as the first film begins to chip away at the huge Infinity Castle arc from the manga. This will be footage never seen in the anime before (unlike some of the other movie events that have hit screens in the last few years), so Demon Slayer fans are likely going to be flocking to theaters when it hits.

Although the upcoming Demon Slayer film will hit the Japanese theatres on July 18th, 2025, global fans will have to wait a bit longer before watching it. The U.S. release date of the Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle film is September 12th, 2025, and the trailer will premiere on the same day as the Japanese release. As the film’s release date draws near, Demon Slayer is going all out with the promotion, and we can’t get enough of it. The latest Uniqlo Summer 2025 collection reveals a set of four exclusive designs featuring Tanjiro, Nezuko, Hashiras, Akaza, and Zenitsu. The collab is part of the Summer 2025 collection and will be released on August 25th, mid-morning ET, in stores and online.

All t-shirts are made of 100% cotton (with 25% using recycled cotton fiber) and available in Men’s sizes from XXS to 3XL. The designs are unisex and photographed with both male and female models wearing them in different sizes. Zenitsu and Akaza get their own t-shirts, while one has all the Hashiras and the other one has a beautiful illustration of the siblings, Tanjiro and Nezuko. There is no mention of the designs specifically being made for the upcoming film, but the official website of Uniqlo promotes it in a description by sharing the Japanese release date.

What to Expect From the Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Film

Muzan Demon Slayer
Ufotable

The story will pick up from where the Hashira Training Arc’s anime season left off. The Demon Slayers engage in a final battle against Muzan after their leader Kagaya Ubuyashiki’s death. The slayers have no time to mourn their beloved leader as they must attack the enemy in front of them. The Hashira Training Arc was merely a buffer before the most intense battle in the show, as the finale sets up the final war. The Demon Slayers managed to weaken the demon progenitor thanks to the combined intellect of Tamayo and Shiinobu.

ufotable

Unfortunately, they were forced into the Infinity Castle, Muzan’s secret hideout, where the Upper Rank Demons are waiting for them. After the deaths of Upper Ranks four to six, Muzan gave the title to three other demons to make up the numbers. While they are powerful, the real dangers are the Upper Three, who are practically untouchable. This will be the final fight between the Demon Slayer Corps and Muzan. Instead of releasing a fifth season, Ufotable decided to create a canon trilogy film, which is a unique yet bold move.

The story will wrap up in the three films, featuring some of the most thrilling fights and heartbreaking moments in the story so far. It will give each character to shine during the battle as the Corps fights with everything they have to put an end to the demon’s terror that has been going on for over a thousand years. The first part of the trilogy film is confirmed to be released globally in August and September, with the dates varying based on the region.

This July, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle will hit theaters in Japan, with a North American release slated for this fall. Hilariously, Tanjiro and the Demon Slayer Corps will be making a return to the silver screen before the first entry of the film trilogy. To get fans prepped for the upcoming anime film, and to teach them good manners in the theaters, Ufotable has created a brand new anime feature that will play on the big screen before the fight against Muzan continues. Luckily, while this film might be only in Japan, a new trailer has been released that features the new animation.

Ufotable has partnered with Toho Cinemas to create a new short film that specifically brings together Tengen Uzui, the Sound Hashira, with his wives to teach “movie manners.” Considering that Demon Slayer: Mugen Train remains the biggest film of all time, with the subsequent compilation films each scoring big profits at the box office, it makes sense to break down the best way to hit theaters for those newcomers looking to witness the beginning of the end for the Demon Slayer Corps. The new short will begin playing this week in Japan, starting on June 20th, and while it hasn’t been confirmed for a Western release, we imagine it will appear in some form or fashion in the future. You can check out the trailer for this “movie manners” short below.

The Demon Slayer Corps’ Swan Song

When last we left Tanjiro and his fellow swordsmen during the Swordsmith Village Arc, things had taken a serious turn for the Demon Slayer Corps. With Muzan confronting Kagaya Ubuyashiki and his family, the head of the Hashira did the unthinkable and sacrificed himself and his family to strike at the demon lord. Luckily, his sacrifice wasn’t in vain as it gave him time for the Hashira to hit the scene and try their best at defeating Muzan.

Unfortunately, the Demon Lord is unlike any opponent that Tanjiro and his allies have faced before. Muzan seemingly cannot be killed in a traditional way that many other demons can, as even decapitating him won’t seal the deal. Instead, Muzan can only be defeated by sunlight, making him nigh invincible and creating a serious hurdle for the Hashira. With the upcoming Infinity Castle being the first of three, expect some major battles to take place as the Demon Slayer Corps attempts to finally destroy the demonic threat to their world once and for all.

For fans in North America waiting to see the first film of the finale trilogy, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle will hit Western theaters on September 12th this fall. Considering how well previous films have done in America under the Demon Slayer banner, expect a big opening weekend for the all-new film.

Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Infinity Castle is set to be the biggest anime movie of 2025, if not of all time, and a film that big needs some gigantic marketing. Aniplex and Ufotable have taken that requirement literally, as part of the film’s promotional efforts include breaking a massive world record. You might remember that ComicBook covered the beginning of Demon Slayer‘s world record attempt this April. The attempt is now past the halfway point, and it looks incredibly impressive.

As part of Infinity Castle‘s promotional campaign, Aniplex is apparently trying to appeal to those flying by airplane and helicopter, as the studio attempts to break the record for the largest rice paddy art. The 2.8 hectare (28,000m²) project will be spread across three fields and will depict Tanjiro holding his sword, along with the Demon Slayer logo. After two months, the rice paddy has grown considerably, and fans have received the latest update revealing the current state of the art.

Demon Slayer Tanjiro

Demon Slayer‘s Rice Paddy Promo Is Insane

The new images of the rice paddy look incredibly promising for the world record attempt. The photos were shared on the official X (formerly Twitter) account for Gyoda Omotenashi Tourism Bureau. The four photos reveal the three fields, along with a close-up of the intricate planning and details that have gone into depicting Tanjiro’s face in a rice paddy.

The paddy was planted in April, and the fields should be ready by the time Infinity Castle releases in Japanese theaters on July 18th, 2025. The artwork also coincides with Demon Slayer‘s ongoing 100-day promo campaign. Expect some more photos of the rice paddy as part of the 100-day online celebration.

The latest update has shown off how impressive the artwork already is. The outline of Tanjiro’s face, clothes, and sword, as well as the Demon Slayer logo, are all clearly visible in the fields. Eagle-eyed fans can also see the various flags used for mapping the different colors of rice plants. Once the rice is (hopefully) in full bloom in July, the distinct colors of Tanjiro’s face and clothes will become apparent. Check out the rice paddy art below…

When Does Infinity Castle Release in the US?

Western fans were hoping for a simultaneous release of Infinity Castle across the globe. Unfortunately, like Tanjiro resting between missions, fans will have to patiently wait a little longer to see Infinity Castle in theaters. The film releases in the US, Canada, and the UK on September 12th.

Fans have also patiently been awaiting the first full trailer for the movie. After months of speculation, it was recently revealed when the trailer will be released. Fans can expect Infinity Castle‘s new trailer to drop on June 28th. Japanese fans who attended the 4K screenings of Mugen Train last month were treated to a sneak peek teaser for the upcoming movie. But the new full trailer will be unveiled during a special broadcast of Mugen Train, which airs on Fuji TV on June 28th as part of a special night broadcast event.

Demon Slayer, one of the biggest modern anime and manga series, is all set for its Infinity Castle film. Ufotable decided to adapt the intense battle and heartbreaking moments into a trilogy film, which will be globally released in theaters. The final films are entirely canon, but will also include scenes from the light novel. The first film will pick up the story from the ending of the Hashira Training Arc, where all the Demon Slayer Corps are forced into the Infinity Castle. Not only is the castle Muzan’s secret hideout, but the infinite layout makes it almost impossible to navigate through it. The Upper Rank Demons are waiting for a chance to strike down the Demon Slayers and completely eradicate the Corps.

The first film will hit the Japanese theaters on July 18th and the U.S. theaters on September 12th. The trailer has already been unveiled in Japan during the re-release of the Infinity Train film. To celebrate the Japanese release, Ufotable will globally reveal the trailer on July 18th on the official YouTube channel of Aniplex. However, before the film’s Japanese release, Ufotable has one more surprise in store for fans with this special TV anime.

Fuji TV Will Broadcast a Special Seven-Night Demon Slayer Broadcast Before the Film’s Release

According to the official website of the anime, the Seven-Nights Special Broadcast will feature the story from the Infinity Train to the Infinity Castle Arcs. The edited episodes will look back on the story from each character’s perspective and will even include new illustrations. Unfortunately, the studio has yet to announce the global release of these special episodes. The broadcast schedule and episode titles have also been shared.

  • June 28th, 8 PM JST: Infinity Train Arc
  • June 29th, 7 PM JST: Infiltration of the Red Light District Arc
  • July 3rd, 7 PM JST: Red Light District Battle Arc
  • July 4th, 8 PM JST: Swordsmith Village Enemy Attack Arc
  • July 6th, 7 PM JST: Swordsmith Village Bonds Arc
  • July 16th, 7 PM JST: Hashira Training Opening Arc
  • July 17th, 7 PM JST: Hashira Training Hashira Gathering Arc

What to Expect From Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Trilogy?

The films will be available in several countries in August and September, with the dates varying based on the region. The final arc of the manga is divided into two parts: Infinity Castle and Sunrise Countdown Arc. The trilogy is named after the first part of the Final Saga, but there’s also a possibility that it will adapt the Sunrise Countdown Arc. The Hashira Training Arc was merely a buffer before the most intense battle in the show. The finale of the latest season has already set up the premise, and we will get to witness the Demon Slayers fighting against Muzan and the Upper Moons in an all-out war. Shinobu and Tamayo have used every bit of knowledge they had to ensure Muzan gets weak before the battle commenced, but the battle is still more challenging than anything they have ever faced.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is coming to theaters later this Summer, and the new movie has finally set a release date for its next major trailer for Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle. Demon Slayer has been preparing for a massive comeback as following the Hashira Training arc seen in the TV anime’s fourth season, the franchise announced it would be continuing with a brand new feature film trilogy adapting the Infinity Castle arc from Koyoharu Gotoge’s original manga series. As we get closer to the first of this new trilogy, Demon Slayer has been in the midst of a massive countdown.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle has been counting down the days to its big premiere in Japan later this July, and this countdown has been showcasing different promotional materials but not much from the actual film in motion. That’s going to change soon enough, however, as it has been announced that the next trailer for the upcoming feature films will be officially releasing on June 28th following a special broadcast of the Demon Slayer anime in Japan. You can check out the special announcement for the trailer in the video below.

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Movie Trailer Release Date

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba will be kicking off a special broadcast for the Hashira Training Arc with plans to air over a seven day special schedule, and kicking things off on June 28th will be the release of the official trailer for Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle. It’s good that we’re finally getting momentum on this so quickly, however, because the new movie will be hitting theaters on July 18th. There has been very little released for the film outside of fans who got to see the special trailer in theaters together with Mugen Train’s re-release, but that’s been all.

Because while there may have been a ton of promotional materials for the new film released over the last few weeks, there hasn’t been a lot of substantive material over what could be coming for Tanjiro Kamado and the others. With three films being worked on without a current schedule in place for when they will actually hit theaters, Demon Slayer fans have been understandably anxious over how it’s all going to look in motion. But thankfully, a new trailer will be released soon enough.

When Does Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Movie Come Out?

Distributed by Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment (outside of Japan), Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle will first be hitting theaters across Japan on July 18th, and will be coming to theaters in the United States and Canada beginning on September 12th. The film will be available in premium and IMAX formats, but this is only the first movie in a planned full trilogy of films. But as of the time of this publication, it’s yet to be revealed when the other two films will be making their way to theaters (and how long of a wait it’s going to be in between).

As for what this first film in the new trilogy will be aboutDemon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle is teased as such, “With the head of the Demon Corps in danger, Tanjiro and the Hashira rush to the headquarters but are plunged into a deep descent to a mysterious space by the hands of Muzan Kibutsuji. Science SARU

Anime compilation films are becoming big business in the anime medium these days. Demon Slayer has made a killing with offerings that put batches of episodes on the silver screen, including Demon Slayer: To The Swordsmith Village and Demon Slayer: To The Hashira Training. With Dandadan getting in on the action with its recent Dandadan: The Evil Eye that hit the West earlier this month, there remains a big problem with these movies that need to be addressed when it comes to the compilation films that are filling theaters these days. Fingers crossed that changes are in store for these future collections.

Typically, when it comes to compilation films for these specific shonen franchises, old and new episodes will be combined into a succinct story for anime fans to witness on the big screen. Most recently, Dandadan: The Evil Eye gave fans a sneak preview for the upcoming second season landing this summer with three new episodes to follow Okarun and Momo in a cursed town. To help fill out the runtime of the film, a synopsis of the first season and interviews with creators behind the scenes help make it run over ninety minutes but this tactic seems lackluster, especially in terms of current ticket prices.

For Demon Slayer, the compilation films had a bigger issue in that the episodes used for previous theatrical outings didn’t quite tell a cohesive story for those hopping into the shonen franchise for the first time. While it was neat for shonen fans to see major battles on the silver screen for the first time, the preview material could have used more exclusives for those willing to make their way to theaters. Both Dandadan and Demon Slayer could have introduced far more episodes from the upcoming seasons to help sweeten the pot for anime fans as it can often feel sparse in their respective runtimes.

Which Anime Compilation Film Gets It Right?

Attack on Titan Last Attack Movie Tickets Buy
Crunchyroll / Sony Pictures Entertainment

Ironically enough, Attack on Titan: The Last Attack felt like the best way to get the “anime compilation film” right. To start, the anime movie had a titanic runtime of over 2 hours and thirty minutes. The material from Studio MAPPA also featured the biggest battles of the series to date and presented a story that was beyond worthy of playing out on the silver screen. Featuring deaths, high-flying action, and emotional character beats galore, The Last Attack should be the template for other anime franchises looking to do the same, but these points aren’t all.

Where Attack on Titan: The Last Attack also had a leg-up over recent offerings from Demon Slayer and Dandadan was with its post-credits scene. Recreating “Attack on School Castes,” the scene itself was unnecessary to the overall plot, focusing on an alternate reality where different takes on Eren, Armin, and Mikasa finish watching The Last Attack. Sticking strictly to theaters for its initial run, the post-credits scene is the cherry on top of this gigantic offering, making the movie earn its ticket price. The grand finale of the brutal anime franchise warranted a grand celebration, so it made sense to see the Scout Regiments on a giant platform one final time.

At the end of the day, anime compilation films should not go the way of the dinosaur and become extinct. Instead, they should be retooled and offer anime fans more bang for their buck, whether that comes in the form of additional new episodes and/or exclusive scenes for theater-goers. Of course, Demon Slayer is moving away from this formula for its final trilogy of films. Since the Infinity Castle story will be three original movies to end the franchise, this fact in itself is enough to be worth the ticket cost. The first of these will arrive in Japanese theaters next month, looking to hit the big screen this September in North America for Western anime fans.

All You Need Is Kill is a new anime feature film adapting the original novel that inspired the Tom Cruise starring Edge of Tomorrow, and now it’s nabbed a major Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba star ahead of big premiere as part of the Annecy International Animation Film Festival this year. Warner Bros. previously announced earlier this Spring that the company has some big plans for Annecy this year. Not only are they bringing the first look at new animated series and movies they now have in the works, there are going to be some big premieres of its new anime projects now in development too.

All You Need Is Kill will be hosting a special screening debut as part of the Annecy International Animation Film Festival 2025 as it has been selected as one of the Midnight Specials during the event. Fans in attendance will be able to check out one of three screenings taking place on June 9th, 12th and 15th, and will be the first time the film will be shown to the public overall. With the confirmation of these special screenings, the main two members of the voice cast have been announced as well.

Who Stars In All You Need Is Kill?

As detailed in a press release from Warner Bros. Japan, All You Need Is Kill will be starring Ai Mikami (Undead Lovers, Romance Battle Royale) as the voice of main protagonist Rita, who finds herself in a terrible time loop that resets every time she dies. Mikami shared the following statement about her joining the film at first, “As someone whoʼs always loved anime, it was like a dream for me to participate in this project. But at the same time, I was also anxious about whether I could do it because I loved anime… That anxiety overlapped with Ritaʼs feelings. However on the first day of recording with Hanae, the voice actor of Keiji, I experienced a strange moment when my feelings were lightened and released. I felt breathing and living as Rita was something unique as a voice actor.”

Natsuki Hanae (Tanjiro Kamado in Demon Slayer) will be starring in the film alongside Mikami as the voice of Keiji, who gets wrapped up in Rita’s struggles. Hanae teased the following about his character, “At first glance, Keiji might seem like an ordinary young man. But as he repeatedly faces death on the brutal battlefield, he gradually begins to change and grow. Through my voice, I hope to carefully convey his despair, inner conflict, and ultimately, his resolve. One of the highlights of the story is Keijiʼs evolving relationship with Rita—whom he meets within the loop—and the determination that begins to take root within him as he relives the same battles over and over.”

What to Know for All You Need Is Kill

Based on an original novel by Hiroshi Sakurazaka, which went on to inspire Edge of Tomorrow, All You Need Is Kill is directed by Kenichiro Akimoto for STUDIO4°C, the studio behind hit anime releases like Tekkonkinkreet and Children of the Sea. Warner Bros Japan. is overseeing the production for the new film, with it starring Ai Mikami as Rita and Natsuki Hanae as Keiji.

As seen in the original novel, All You Need Is Kill is a wild story where two people are trapped in a loop that they need to escape. It’s how Warner Bros. Japan teases the new film as well, “Trapped in a time loop after an alien invasion, the girl and boyʼs chance encounter will shape the fate of an endless battlefield. Get ready for a breathtaking action-fantasy sci-fi adventure!”

Tanjiro with two different expressions in a custom image

Demon Slayer is undoubtedly one of the standout anime of the new generation, and much of its acclaim can be credited to Ufotable, the studio responsible for bringing Koyoharu Gotouge’s manga to life. Ufotable delivers a visually stunning experience, with vibrant colors and fluid animation, especially during the intense and beautifully choreographed fight sequences that have captivated audiences worldwide. While the anime is widely praised for its animation, it also offers a heartfelt and emotionally resonant story, centered around a protagonist on a mission to save his only remaining family member, Nezuko, by turning her back into a human. Through this journey, the series highlights the powerful bond between siblings, yet it is Tanjiro’s unwavering determination that truly stands out.

Despite losing everything in an instant and having already taken on the responsibility of supporting his family after his father’s death, Tanjiro refuses to give up. Instead, he makes a promise to save his sister, a commitment that drives him to surpass his limits time and again. This relentless resolve is where the series’ core message lies, subtly woven into the narrative rather than spoken outright. However, there is a moment early in the story when Tanjiro articulates this very message, reminding both characters and viewers alike of the importance of moving on and never giving up.

Tnajiro and Kazumi from Demon Slayer Episode 7

Tanjiro Utters Demon Slayer’s Core Message With a Single Quote

During Episodes 6 and 7 of Demon Slayer, Tanjiro is sent on his first official mission as a demon slayer to a village where women have been mysteriously disappearing. During this mission, he encounters a man named Kazumi, whose fiancée has recently vanished. Tanjiro quickly suspects demonic involvement, and that night, he successfully confronts the culprit, the Swamp Demon. Unfortunately, it’s too late to save Kazumi’s fiancée. Devastated by the news, Kazumi is left broken, struggling to comprehend how he’s supposed to continue living after such a profound loss. It’s in this moment of despair that Tanjiro offers a simple, heartfelt quote that encapsulates the series’ core message.

Tanjiro tells Kazumi, “You have to go on. No matter what. In spite of losing people… even though it’s devastating.” While such words might sound hollow coming from a stranger, Kazumi’s initial hesitation and anger fade when he senses the sincerity in Tanjiro’s voice, words clearly born from personal experience. This moment highlights a central theme of the series: that life, despite its tragedies, demands perseverance. Tanjiro, who lost nearly his entire family and saw his sister turn into a demon, had every reason to succumb to despair. Instead, he found a new purpose, restoring Nezuko’s humanity.

His actions suggest that loss is not just an end, but a painful lesson that can push us toward our next reason to live. Most members of the Demon Slayer Corps carry similar grief, using their pain as motivation to protect others or seek justice. This profound message of resilience is subtly embedded in nearly every character of Demon Slayer, which is easy to overlook beneath the series’ dazzling animation and high-paced action.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba has been counting down to the premiere of its big movie comeback in Japan hitting later this Summer, and part of that countdown has dropped a new look at the Stone Hashira Gyomei Himejima ahead of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle‘s premiere. Demon Slayer is heading to theaters with a brand new trilogy of feature films adapting the massive Infinity Castle arc from Koyoharu Gotoge’s original manga series, and this new trilogy will be showing off each of the Hashira in action through key battles against Muzan Kibutsuji’s final Upper Rank demon forces.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle will be releasing the first film in its planned feature in Japan later this July, and with it has been getting Tanjiro Kamado and the others ready for the fights to come. After the Hashira each tried to train themselves to unlock their new Demon Slayer marks during the Hashira Training arc in Demon Slayer‘s fourth season, the Stone Hashira Gyomei Himejima came into the spotlight for the first real time. Now he’s getting some new time to shine with a special new poster highlighting the Stone Hashira ahead of the trilogy’s premiere. Check it out below.

What’s Coming for Gyomei Himejima in Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle?

Gyomei first made his debut together with the rest of the Hashira all the way back in Demon Slayer’s first season, but really made his mark with the TV anime’s fourth season. The series put him in the spotlight as Tanjiro and the others underwent his training, and it was here that fans got to learn about his bleak past and how it influences the way he looks at the current demon filled world. At the same time, it also demonstrated just how strong he was compared to the rest of the Hashira.

Gyomei has some tough fights ahead of him like the other members of the Hashira, and there’s no guarantee that he will survive the night when the trilogy comes to an end. It’s yet to be revealed how much of the original Infinity Castle arc this new film will cover, so it’s hard to currently gauge just how involved Gyomei will be in the coming events as each of the fights are scattered across the trilogy. It’s all happening at the same time, so fans will need to keep their eyes peeled for what’s next. For now, make sure you’re all caught up with Demon Slayer as it’s now streaming with Hulu, Netflix, Crunchyroll and more.

The countdown for the Japanese release date of the Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle continues to hype our beloved characters. The first part of the trilogy film will hit the Japanese theatres on July 18th, 2025. It’s scheduled to release on September 12th, 2025, in the United States. The film is entirely canon and will pick up the story from the ending of the Hashira Training Arc, where all the Demon Slayer Corps are forced into the Infinity Castle. Not only does the castle fall under Muzan’s domain, but it’s extremely difficult to navigate through it. The Upper Rank Demons are waiting for a chance to strike down the Demon Slayers and completely eradicate the Demon Slayer Corps.

The film will cover the final arc of the series, featuring some of the most intense fights fans have ever seen. The stakes are higher than ever, especially since it’s the showdown against demons that the Corps was even created for. The official X account of the anime has been sharing countdown posts to promote the upcoming film. This time, the account shares a stunning visual of the Wind Hashira, Sanemi Shinazugawa, one of the best characters in the show.

Sanemi Will Shock Demon Slayer Fans in the Upcoming Films

Sanemi used to be a controversial character since his debut was less than pleasant. His sheer hatred for demons led him to attack a defenseless Nezuko in the Ubuyashiki manor. While the initial storm passed, he continued to maintain his aggressive stance for the majority of the story. However, Genya’s backstory revealed the reason behind his hatred for demons and the fact that he killed his own mother, who had transformed into a demon, to save Genya.

The tragedy of the brothers doesn’t end there as Sanemi leaves to join the Demon Slayer Corps, hoping to never run into Genya again. He would ignore Genya, even after the latter joined the Corps in hopes of making amends with his older brother. Sanemi’s hostility towards Genya is only a facade since there’s a reason he keeps pushing his only family away. Despite the fact that Genya has apologized a number of times for hurting his feelings, the Wind Hashira refuses to budge. The Infinity Castle movie will be a crucial arc for the Shinazugawa brothers, who will come to terms with their true feelings during the battle.

As the Wind Hashira, Sanemi is one of the most powerful characters in the series. However, even he can’t easily defeat the high-ranking members of the Twelve Kizuki. He will have a much bigger role in this arc as compared to the rest of the series, and we will also witness the true extent of his powers. While the manga only unveiled his powers in the Infinity Castle Arc, the anime gave us a glimpse in the Hashira Training Arc when it included scenes from the light novel. However, there’s still a lot more to see from him.

Demon Slayer Infinity Castle

Demon Slayer is easily the most successful anime project by Ufotable, and its immense popularity speaks volumes about the incredible work done by the studio. It even won the Best Continuing Series Award in the Crunchyroll Anime Awards 2025 for the Hashira Training Arc, the least favorite arc of the series. While the arc itself didn’t have a lot of action, the finale episode was more than intense enough to make up for it. It also teased the highly anticipated Infinity Castle Arc. Even before the fourth anime season, Ufotable had confirmed that the final arc would be made into a trilogy movie in a clear bid to outdo the record-breaking box office success of Demon Slayer – The Movie: Mugen Train.

That’s a bold decision from the studio, as not a lot of anime make canon movies beyond the recent trend of compilation movies, and especially not a trilogy at that. It caused a lot of controversy, especially among the younger fans who would rather sit at home and enjoy a series, with us collectively spoiled by global simulcast releases in recent years. Personally, after experiencing the Infinity Train film in the theatres, I’m looking forward to the upcoming movies as well. Not a lot of studios can compete with Ufotable in terms of animation and cinematic experience, and I have no doubt that the Infinity Castle films will be like that as well. However, if there’s one thing that’s bugging me, it’s how utterly boring and repetitive the promotion has been so far. The series is only 50 days away from the Japanese release date, but Ufotable hasn’t even released an official trailer yet.

Demon Slayer – The Movie: Infinity Castle’s Countdown Promo Is Painfully Disappointing

Unlike most official anime accounts, Demon Slayer’s PR is always active, a little too active if you ask me. They post several updates each day, but nothing too substantial to catch your eye. They also started a 100-day countdown for the film, but it’s just unnecessary information that’s not enough to build excitement among fans, especially at the rate of its current output. Even the 50-day countdown they shared today, May 28th, is just the sixth installment of the special announcement video. The film will be released this summer on July 18th in Japanese theaters. Keep in mind that this countdown is only for Japanese fans in consideration, with more than 50 additional days to wait for the September 12th release date in the United States and Canada.

ufotable

The video begins with the staff members at Machi ★ Asobi Vol. 28 before beginning another random slideshow-quality tease of the famous characters inside the castle. Additionally, up until a week ago, all we saw was Rengoku being the face of the Mugen Train film that was re-released in the theatres. After going all out with the promotion of an older blockbuster, you’d think that Ufotable would finally focus on its biggest project at hand. The character visuals and teasers we have seen so far have been great, but the redundancy is unbearable.

I don’t think wanting to see a proper glimpse at the arc or the fights with the release date approaching so quickly is a lot to expect. Even the fans have started to lose patience at this point, and are asking to see something new in the replies to the countdown posts, with the main demand always being for a proper trailer above all else. Maybe the studio will release something in a couple of weeks, but so far, there’s no guarantee. This is genuinely a disappointing way to count down to such an exciting movie, banking on fan enthusiasm to stay alive when they trot out the same set of character posters and Rengoku seat covers.

ufotable

Demon Slayer Could’ve Benefited With More Engaging Promotion

I’m not the only one who would easily be happy with some teasers highlighting key moments, voiceover monologues, the fight matchups, etc., instead. Any mixture of these promos could’ve built some real hype during the countdown. Fans, including myself, are keeping our eyes peeled for any exciting news from the studio, and would love to discuss the content if it were actually interesting. Unfortunately, we are heading towards the release date completely blind. Even the so-called official trailer released in December last year was just a short recap of the Hashira Training Arc finale, the Demon Slayer Corps charging at Muzan and falling into the castle.

The lack of engaging content from the studio makes it challenging for me to maintain my enthusiasm during the long wait as a longtime fan. That is especially the case since the movie is already getting a delayed release date outside of Japan. It’s almost as if the countdown is less about building hype and more about fulfilling an obligation. Not only that, but even the second and third installments are nothing but mysteries to fans. We already know by now that the Infinity Castle Arc will stage the final fight against Muzan and the Upper Ranks. With stakes higher than ever, the Demon Slayers will put everything on the line for the sake of humanity.

As a series that has been running for over twenty-five years with the end still nowhere near in sight, One Piece is easily the first anime that comes to mind when thinking of the best continuing anime series. The series has continued to enthrall viewers of all ages and ethnicities for decades, growing into a global sensation with fame and success that many series can only hope to achieve. Having said that, the last couple of years have finally given One Piece some tough competition, and now one of these new sensations has beaten One Piece for a major award at the Crunchyroll Anime Awards.

At long last, the winners of Crunchyroll’s 2025 Anime Awards have been unveiled, and much to the surprise of One Piece fans around the world, Demon Slayer has dethroned One Piece in the Best Continuing Series category, winning the award with the Hashira Training Arc. This loss for One Piece has come as quite a surprise, given the series’ meteoric improvement in animation quality for the Egghead Arc over the last year. Having said that, Demon Slayer truly emerged as the dark horse this time around for the Anime Awards, even taking home the win in the Best Animation category against tough competition like Dandadan, Freiren: Beyond Journey’s End, and most surprisingly of all, Solo Leveling.

Demon Slayer Dethrones One Piece as the Best Continuing Series

While the loss for One Piece may seem surprising at first glance, it is important to remember that One Piece has taken home the award for the Best Continuing Series back to back for the last two years. The only other time One Piece was nominated and lost was to Dragon Ball Super back in 2019. There is also the fact that One Piece’s anime, despite being nominated, was on hiatus for nearly half a year, which may or may not have impacted its chances this year.

As such, many might argue that it is refreshing to see another series take home the win for a change, and Demon Slayer is more than deserving. Demon Slayer has given fans one exceptional season after the next, with the Mugen Train movie still sitting cozy as the highest-grossing Japanese animated film of all time. The Hashira Training Arc, which was the latest installment of the series, also quite literally blew fans away with its explosive finale. More importantly, with the series set to wrap up its story with the upcoming Infinity Castle film trilogy, this may have been Demon Slayer’s one and only chance to take home the title, and thankfully, it did.

Demon Slayer and One Piece can be streamed on Crunchyroll.

As fun as a good fistfight can be to watch, there’s no denying that some of the best fights in anime involve swords. Be it the Japanese katana in Demon Slayer or medieval greatswords in Black Clover and Berserk, swords in anime come in all shapes and sizes, and even abstract concepts in the case of the Fate franchise. In fact, you’d be hard-pressed to find an action anime without at least a single sword wielder, which is a clear testament to just how much swordfights open the door to creativity in anime, not just in terms of the fight choreography and animation but also in terms of the sword’s design itself. These swords have become so iconic, photorealistic replicas have become a staple of professional cosplayers and comic-con attendees around the world, and while the replicas offered by Mini Katana won’t grant you the same power as those who wield them, it’s the next best thing.

Owing to their unique designs, many anime swords have come to be just as iconic as the swordsmen who wield them. Some excellent examples of this include Guts’ Dragon Slayer from Berserk, Mihawk’s ornate Yoru in One Piece, or any of the Hashira’s Nichirin blades in Demon Slayer, all of which have become all but synonymous with their respective wielders. Having said that, while there are plenty more iconic swords in anime, these might just be the best ones of all time.

1) Guts’ Dragon Slayer (Berserk)

berserk-guts.jpg

As far as claymores and greatswords go in anime, it’s hard to find one more iconic than Guts’ Dragon Slayer from Berserk. While the sword itself is objectively quite plain-looking, what makes the Dragon Slayer so memorable is the ease with which Guts wields it, swinging it around and chopping up humans and demons as if it were any normal-sized sword.

Having said that, don’t let the Dragon Slayer’s simple design deceive you, as the sword’s prolonged use over the years against deadly creatures and Apostles has allowed Guts to wound Astral entities including Slan of the God Hand. Despite its memorable introduction, the Dragon Slayer is indeed far more than a large hunk of iron in the hands of Guts.

2) Asta’s Demon-Slayer Sword (Black Clover)

Black Clover Anime Asta Sword of the Wizard King

Besides Guts, another greatsword wielder who has caught everyone’s attention as of late is Asta from Black Clover with his Demon-Slayer Sword. While even to a layman’s eye, it seems like a clear homage to Berserk, the added crossguard creates a distinctive claymore flavor with its own added quirks thanks to its unique properties perfectly suited to Asta. What makes the Demon-Slayer Sword just as memorable is Asta’s short stature, which surprisingly does not stop him from wielding the sword with just as much dexterity despite it being much bigger than him.

For those of us born without magic much like our favorite Black Bull Magic Knight, Asta’s Demon-Slayer Sword is a distinctive accessory perfect for Black Clover fans at photoshoots or conventions. Despite its rusty old appearance, the Demon Slayer is quite special even by itself, allowing Asta to channel anti-magic and cleave through even the strongest of spells, if not hit his opponents with pure blunt force.

You can check out Mini Katana’s Demon-Slayer Sword here.

3) Gilgamesh’s Ea/Sword of Rupture (Fate Series)

Although its appearance is quite unusual and unlike typical swords, the Sword of Rupture, or Ea as it is otherwise known, is one of the most powerful Noble Phantasms in the entire Fate franchise and may just be one of the most broken weapons in all of anime. The Ea predates the very concept of a sword and grants Gilgamesh transcendental power that cannot be replicated even by Emiya’s Unlimited Blade Works. Furthermore, the weapon can only be wielded by Gilgamesh, who only uses it against those he deems worthy of fighting it.

4) Rengoku’s Nichirin (Demon Slayer)

While Demon Slayer boasts many uniquely looking Nichirin blades, Rengoku’s sword is easily the most recognizable and iconic one of the series. Despite the Flame Hashira only making his debut in Season 2, Rengoku was quick to leave a lasting impression on fans through his final fight against Akaza.

Furthermore, Rengoku’s sword continues to hold great significance in the series, with Tanjiro inheriting the distinctive flame-shaped hilt of Rengoku’s sword and incorporating it into his own blade. If there’s any sword worth collecting from Demon Slayer, it has to be Rengoku’s.

You can check out Renogku’s sword from Mini Katana here.

5) Toji’s Split-Soul Katana (Jujutsu Kaisen)

Jujutsu Kaisen Hidden Inventory Toji

Surprisingly, despite being a battle shonen, katanas and swords in Jujutsu Kaisen are quite a rare sight, with the most memorable one being Toji’s Split-Soul katana. This weapon first makes its debut during the Hidden Inventory Arc, with Toji using it on multiple instances throughout.

Despite its unassuming appearance, the Split-Soul katana is quite powerful due to its ability to target an opponent’s soul, which makes it near-impossible to heal wounds inflicted by it with the Reverse Cursed Technique. This passing weapon eventually proves to be quite a game-changer in the final battle against Sukuna, wherein Maki wields an exact replica of it.

6) Ichigo’s Zangetsu (Bleach)

bleach-thousand-year-blood-war-ichigo-uryu-orihime-chad.jpg

Any list of the most iconic swords in anime would be incomplete without mentioning the Zangetsu from Bleach. The Zangetsu, which is Ichigo’s Zanpakuto, is unlike any other in the entire series as it is a fusion of Ichigo’s Quincy powers and the Hollow White. In Shikai form, the Zangetsu typically takes the form of a large black and silver longsword that almost resembles a knife, though when Ichigo later unlocks its true powers, the Zangetsu also takes the form of dual black blades representing its unique split constitution.

7) Mihawk’s Yoru (One Piece)

One Piece Mihawk

While Zoro may be the swordsman that fans see the most of in One Piece, with many memorable swords like Enma, Wado Ichimonji, and the Sandai Kitetsu, the award for the most iconic sword in One Piece would have to go to Dracula Mihawk’s Yoru. Although Mihawk makes only a few appearances in the series, his incredibly ornate, jewel-studded sword is impossible to forget, with replicas being a coveted accessory for One Piece fans.

Mihawk’s Yoru made a terrifying debut in One Piece after Roronoa Zoro’s ill-fated and short-lived duel with the Warlord, resulting in the Pirate Hunter’s (at the time) inferior swords being shattered, along with a grievous wound to Zoro’s chest. Besides its unique appearance, the Yoru also lives up to its wielder’s reputation as the World’s Strongest Swordsman, with the Yoru not only being a black blade but also one of the 12 Supreme Grade swords, thus owning a legacy and reputation of its own.

You can check out Mini Katana’s Yoru replica here.

Demon Slayer is about to have one of its biggest years ever as the first of the grand finale trilogy, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle, will hit theaters in Japan this summer and then theaters in North America this fall. As fans wait to see Tanjiro and the other members of the Demon Slayer Corps fight against Muzan and his strongest demonic lieutenants, Ufotable is revisiting Demon Slayer: Mugen Train. Hitting theaters in Japan to celebrate, what remains, the biggest anime movie of all time, a “Rengoku nightmare” has been revealed to extend the theatrical run of the demonic locomotive.

Demon Slayer: Mugen Train’s return to theaters in Japan was scheduled from May 9th to May 22nd, once again bringing anime fans into the battle that garnered the shonen franchise hundreds of millions of dollars worldwide. During the run, Rengoku’s voice actor Satoshi Hino helped ring in the big event with special seat coverings for theaters that were participating in the re-release. Thanks to the success of Mugen Train’s return, many theaters are set to extend the run for an untold amount of time, once again proving just how big Demon Slayer has become since it first hit the anime world. Now, not only has Hino returned with the new covers but a disturbing rendition of Rengoku has arrived to boot.

The Rengoku Nightmare Arrives

Both the Mugen Train and the new “seat jacks” that have Rengoku front and center in theaters will receive a longer run, with the official Demon Slayer social media account sharing the following statement, “Regarding the current theater seat jack, It has been decided that some theaters will extend the screening period beyond Friday, May 23rd. The period and screens vary by theater. For details, please check the screening schedule on each theater’s official website.”

Rengoku, the Flame Hashira, was one of the main focuses of Mugen Train and unfortunately, his story did not end in the way that many shonen fans were hoping to see. In his fight against one of the world’s strongest demons, Akaza, Rengoku’s mastery of the sword wasn’t enough to help him survive the fight and Tanjiro was forced to learn a harsh lesson in the film. Demon Slayer would release future films in Demon Slayer: To The Swordsmith Village and Demon Slayer: To The Hashira Training, though both of these cinematic offerings were compilation films. With the upcoming arrival of the Infinity Castle films, it will be interesting to see if they manage to overtake Mugen Train at the box office.

What Happens in Infinity Castle?

While Demon Slayer’s final film of the trilogy is still most likely years away at this point in time, manga readers who followed the shonen series know how Tanjiro, Nezuko, and the heroes’ story ends. Creator Koyoharu Gotouge brought the manga to an end in 2020 and ever since, the mangaka hasn’t hinted at the universe returning with a sequel and/or spin-off. Based on the events of the shonen series, the anime adaptation is planning to end things with a serious bang.

Demon Slayer Tanjiro and Nezuko Season 1

With less than two months until Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Infinity Castle is released in Japanese theaters, Aniplex and Toho are getting serious with the 100 Days to Infinity Castle countdown. Aside from the occasional teaser trailer, the past 40 days have been filled with character posters and photos of the movie’s voice cast. But, Aniplex and Toho are finally giving fans something to sink their teeth into, and it’s absolutely free.

This year’s Infinity Castle movie is the first in a new trilogy that will bring the Demon Slayer anime to a very dramatic end. Over four seasons and a movie, Demon Slayer has quickly grown to become one of the most popular anime of all time, along with One Piece, Jujutsu Kaisen, and Solo Leveling. Before fans dive into the Infinity Castle movie this summer, Aniplex wants to take us back to where it all began.

Demon Slayer Will Stream for Free on YouTube!

With internet piracy being a bigger threat than ever, many anime fans are finding alternative ways to stream their favorite shows. But Aniplex has looked those fans in the eyes, said “hold my beer,” and cut out the middle man. As part of the build-up to Infinity Castle‘s Japanese release, every episode of Demon Slayer will stream for free on YouTube!

The official Aniplex YouTube channel will begin streaming each episode of Demon Slayer on May 22nd. New episodes will go live every day from then on at 6 PM JT (5 AM ET). Starting with the show’s very first episode, fans can re-experience Tanjiro’s journey from a kindhearted woodcutter to a kindhearted slayer of demons. So far, only the subbed versions of Demon Slayer have been announced for the YouTube stream, so dub fans might be out of luck as a dubbed version hasn’t been confirmed.

But this doesn’t mean the show will remain free on YouTube forever. The YouTube live stream is like live TV with extra steps. Once the episode finishes streaming on Aniplex’s channel, fans will have to jump back over to Crunchyroll or Netflix to stream the series again. In the spirit of Tanjiro’s kind heart, we’ve linked to the first episode’s livestream, which can be found at the top of this article.

Demon Slayer Fans Are Eating Good This Summer!

Ufotable, Aniplex, and Toho have gone all out this summer, treating fans with non-stop goodies, freebies, and updates in the build-up to Infinity Castle‘s Japanese release. The movie hits Japanese theaters on July 18. American and Canadian fans will have to duck spoilers online for a little while, as Crunchyroll is releasing the film in the US and Canada on September 12.

Arguably, the biggest treat is the Mugen Train movie receiving a stunning 4K remaster and being launched back into theaters worldwide. It hasn’t been revealed how the YouTube live-stream will tackle the Mugen Train movie. But, considering the series has been split into six episodes on Crunchyroll, the YouTube stream will likely follow that format.

Demon Slayer’s Hasiras are getting all of the attention in the latest entries in the 100 Days to Infinity Castle promo series. The past 40 days have included various character posters, behind-the-scenes shots of the voice cast, and the occasional teaser trailer. The past week has also seen Rengoku finally get the posthumous attention he deserves, as the Mugen Train movie returns to theaters for a limited 4K re-release. But, after being bombarded with promos depicting the extinguished Flame Hashira, Demon Slayer is showing some love to the Hashira with the same namesake.

The Love Hashira, Mitsuri, became a fan favorite after she was featured in the Swordsmith Village Arc, alongside the Mist Hashira, Muichiro. While the season was the target of much criticism from fans, Mitsuri and Muichiro stole the show by coming out on top against two of the Upper Moon Demons. They are both returning for the Infinity Castle movie, and Mitsuri is the next Hashira in the spotlight.

Mitsuri Storms the Infinity Castle in New Demon Slayer Promo

The new Mitsuri promo is part of the 100 Days to Infinity Castle campaign (as we at ComicBook have unofficially dubbed it). The film releases in Japanese theaters on July 18th, and the official Demon Slayer X (formerly Twitter) account has updated fans daily with new promos and behind-the-scenes shots with the film’s cast.

Today’s promo gives Mitsuri a new character poster for the Infinity Castle movie. While the Love Hashira is often very smiley and bubbly, she’s not messing around in the photo. Holding her sword back, ready to swing, Mitsuri’s iconic pink and green hair and her white jacket wave around her as she gets ready to unleash a swing with her flexible sword/whip.

Mitsuri’s poster marks 62 days until Infinity Castle is released in Japanese theaters. Rengoku, the last Hashira to feature in the campaign, was given almost a week of promos building up to Mugen Train‘s re-release. Thankfully, Demon Slayer is back to diversifying the character slate, as the rest of the Hashira will soon receive the attention they deserve.

Infinity Castle Could Break an Anime Box Office Record

Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Infinity Castle is the most anticipated anime movie of the year. As well as having the weight of the Demon Slayer fandom carrying it forward, fans are also hoping that the movie can make up for the underwhelming past two seasons of the series. Demon Slayer already has an incredible track record at the box office. Mugen Train, released in 2020, is the highest grossing anime movie of all-time, earning over $507 million worldwide. But, Infinity Castle is expected to obliterate that record. We’re still nearly two months away from early box office predictions and projections, but fans have high hopes for the film.

Infinity Castle is also the first in a new trilogy of Demon Slayer films that will bring the franchise to an end. If this year’s movie is successful, both critically and commercially, the subsequent two films are expected to push Demon Slayer‘s box office triumph further than ever before.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle will begin taking over theaters around the world later this Summer, and it’s getting the Snake Hashira ready for what’s next with a new look at Obanai Iguro ahead of the new movie’s premiere. Demon Slayer is coming back to theaters around the world with a new feature film trilogy adapting the massive Infinity Castle arc from Koyoharu Gotoge’s original manga series. This arc features the final battles between the Hashira and Muzan Kibutsuji’s Upper Ranks, and that means some intense sequences are coming to the anime before the film trilogy all comes to an end.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle will be releasing the first of this new trilogy in Japan later this July, and has been preparing for its release with a multi-day countdown that’s come with special new reveals pretty much everyday in anticipation of the new movie. This includes some new looks at each of the members of the Hashira as they are thrown into the fights, and the newest poster for the upcoming trilogy has dropped a closer look at the Snake Hashira, Obanai Iguro. Check it out below:

ufotable

What Is Iguro’s Role in Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle?

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle will be releasing the first film in its new trilogy this July, but it’s hard to predict just how much of the series it will cover when it finally hits. While this is going to be a huge trilogy tackling the final battles, it’s also adapting an arc that’s around 44 chapters in full (as it started around Chapter 140 of the manga). If it’s truly going to be the anime’s grand finale, then it will likely include the final 22 chapters of the series as well. Which means that for this first film, it’s likely going to cover a lot of ground for the characters when it hits.

Iguro was one of the many Hashira that spent some time training during the events of Demon Slayer: Hashira Training Arc, but fans have not gotten a lot of time spent with the character himself. You can catch up with the first four seasons of Demon Slayer streaming with Netflix, Hulu, Crunchyroll and more in the meantime to get your bearings for the kinds of big experience that’s coming fans’ way with the new film trilogy. It’s just a matter of seeing who actually survives until the end.

When Does Demon Slayer’s New Trilogy Release?

Distributed by Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment (outside of Japan), Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle will first be hitting theaters across Japan on July 18th, and will be coming to theaters in the United States and Canada beginning on September 12th. The film will be available in premium and IMAX formats, and is only the first in a new trilogy of films. But as of the time of this publication, it’s yet to be revealed when the other two films will hit theaters.

As for what this new film will be aboutDemon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle is teased as such, “With the head of the Demon Corps in danger, Tanjiro and the Hashira rush to the headquarters but are plunged into a deep descent to a mysterious space by the hands of Muzan Kibutsuji. The destination of where Tanjiro and Demon Slayer Corps have fallen is the demons’ stronghold – the Infinity Castle. Demon Slayer Mugen Train Rengoku anime

The theatrical re-release of Demon Slayer: Mugen Train isn’t just content with setting your heart ablaze, as the latest promos in the 100 days to Infinity Castle series see Rengoku taking over entire movie theaters. Mugen Train is back in theaters this month as part of the build-up to Infinity Castle‘s release (in stunning 4K, no less), and the newest promo for the film is wild.

We anime fans are known for being a little bit over the top. To accommodate our passion, select Japanese theaters are holding special “cheer screenings,” where fans are encouraged to cheer along, respond to the characters on screen, wave glowsticks, and indulge in all forms of anime-based shenanigans. But even “cheer screenings” have their limits, and Rengoku is here to remind audiences of the etiquette of movie theaters.

Rengoku Teaches Us Movie Theater Etiquette

Aniplex has released a new Mugen Train promo which includes Rengoku walking audiences through what is and isn’t acceptable in the cheer screenings. There’s no problem with talking out loud, please speak up and support us,” Rengoku says towards the start of the video as the Fire Hashira begins to list off other acceptable things to do in the special screenings.

Along with cheering uncontrollably, fans in the cheer screenings can also bring in glowsticks and candles (which sounds like a fire hazard waiting to happen). “It would be encouraging if you could support me with your actions,” Rengoku says as he tows the line between fan support and straight-up arson — he is the Fire Hashira, after all.

But the cheer screenings have their limitations. Live flames might be acceptable, but you’d better not wear anything flammable, as cosplay is banned in the screenings. “Please be aware that making noise with costumes or standing up during the screening will be a nuisance to others,” he continued. “Cosplay is prohibited. Therefore, please refrain from changing clothes in toilets.”

Last but not least, even Muzan himself wouldn’t spoil a movie for someone else. Despite Mugen Train being released back in 2020, and that almost everyone in the cheer screenings will probably be hardcore fans, Rengoku still asks that fans do not spoil anything before the screenings start. “Please be considerate and refrain from giving away spoilers, as some people may be seeing the movie for the first time.

Along with the video, the official Demon Slayer X (formerly Twitter) account shared a photo of one screening room that will be used for the cheer screenings. Rengoku had better be your favorite Hashira because the character and his iconic yellow hair have been printed onto every seat in the theater. Check it out below…

Mugen Train’s Re-Release Comes With a Special Gift for Rengoku Fans

If getting the chance to literally scream “Set your heart ablaze!” at the screen wasn’t enough of a treat, those who attend the cheer screenings will also leave with an exclusive gift. The Rengoku Vol. 0 -Revival- booklet was first given out in 2020 during select screenings of Mugen Train. The booklet has now been given a new cover showing Rengoku battling Akaza.

The booklet contains the Rengoku Vol. 0 manga, character introductions, and interviews with the cast of the movie. The cheer screenings will begin in Japan on May 18th. You’ve only got two days left to book your flights!

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is coming back to theaters with the first film in a new trilogy coming later this Summer, but it turns out that the entire Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle trilogy might be closer to its release than you think thanks to a new update from one of its stars. Following the end of Demon Slayer: Hashira Training Arc, it was announced that the anime would be returning to theaters with a brand new trilogy adapting the massive Infinity Castle arc from Koyoharu Gotoge’s original manga series. Now the first of these films is coming to theaters later this Summer.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle will begin its new film trilogy with a new film hitting first in Japan later this July, but has yet to reveal the release dates or windows for the final two films of the trilogy. But these new films could be hitting much sooner than we all expect as Tanjiro Kamado voice star Natsuki Hanae revealed during a recent Mugen Train screening event (as reported by Oricon) that recording for the arc has already wrapped.

Demon Slayer Movie Trilogy Gets Major Update

In a recent screening event for Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train‘s return to theaters to help hype up the new trilogy’s debut, Hanae was in attendance and revealed that recording for the Infinity Castle arc has all wrapped up. In the report it’s not quite clear if it meant that Hanae’s recording alone has wrapped, or if it’s just referring to the first film, but it seems like the trilogy as a whole has come one step closer to its release. And if that’s the case, then fans are in for a treat considering how tricky of a release this is going to be overall.

Hanae teased that the entire cast is ready for what’s to come in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle, “We’re all extremely fired up for the final battle” and further noted that “It’s truly something incredible.” The trilogy needs to really hit all together at once in order to keep up its momentum, and the fact that recording for it all seems to have wrapped is a good sign that there likely won’t be a long wait in between each of the releases. Which will be the best case scenario for Demon Slayer fans.

ufotable / Shueisha

When Does Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Come Out?

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle will be launching the first film in its new trilogy theaters across Japan on July 18th, and will be coming to theaters in the United States and Canada beginning on September 12th. The trilogy itself is going to be one to watch as its release schedule is going to be very important to its success. In order to keep the hype going for all three films, then they really do need to launch as closely as together as they possibly can.

Not only does this trilogy carry some major events bringing the Demon Slayer anime closer to its finale than ever, but they are going to release across various international territories at very different times. Spoilers for each film are pretty much going to be rampant, and that’s going to be a hard period to navigate as the wait between each one kicks in. If there’s more than a year worth of waiting in between each film, then it’s going to impact the potential enjoyment fans might have before it all ends. Let’s just hope they all hit as fast as they possibly can without harming those behind the scenes too much.

We’re slicing closer and closer to the release date for Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Infinity Castle, and the promotional campaign is slowly being amped up. Over the past few weeks, the official Demon Slayer social media accounts have been overburdened with daily posters and teasers for the film. The beloved Mugen Train Arc movie is also heading back to theaters, with an exclusive new trailer for Infinity Castle. As you might expect in the age of the internet, some fans have attempted to secretly record and share the trailer online. But Sony Pictures and Crunchyroll are cracking down hard on anyone who tries to spoil the exclusivity of the trailer.

The new Infinity Castle arc movie trailer has already leaked online once, thanks to ongoing Mugen Train Arc screenings in Japan. But, those leaks were swiftly taken down, and (*Smokey the Bear voice*) Demon Slayer wants you to know that only you can prevent internet piracy.

Demon Slayer Infinity Castle
Ufotable

Following the leaks, the official Demon Slayer X (formerly Twitter) account issued a stern warning against anyone else who attempts to leak the trailer online. “A secretly recorded video of the theater-exclusive trailer for the Infinity Castle Arc that plays at the end of the main feature of the currently-showing revival screening of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Train has been found on the internet,” began the lengthy post.

It continued, “Filming secretly in a theater is a crime under the Law for Prevention of Unauthorized Recording of Films. In addition, uploading secretly recorded footage to X, YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, etc., is a copyright infringement. Any infringement of copyright infringement in violation of the Film Piracy Prevention Act and the Copyright Act may be punished with imprisonment of up to 10 years or a fine of up to 10 million yen, or both.”

We like Demon Slayer as much as the next person, but not enough to risk 10 years behind bars.

Infinity Castle Releases This September

While the new trailer is a Mugen Train Arc exclusive, it likely won’t remain that way for long. Once the film has finished its theatrical re-release, the trailer will likely be shared online for everyone else to see (without a potential criminal charge). Western fans also don’t have long to wait before we can watch the new trailer in theaters. The Mugen Train Arc movie returns to select US theaters on May 14th.

As for the Infinity Castle movie, we still have a little longer to wait. The film releases on July 18th in Japan. US fans then have to remain spoiler-free until September 12th, when the film releases in North American theaters. The film is the first in a new cinematic trilogy that will bring the beloved Demon Slayer anime franchise to a close. No potential release dates for the subsequent two Demon Slayer movies have been revealed yet.

Demon Slayer Rengoku Mugen Train Arc movie

The highly anticipated Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle film is still months away, promising some of the best fights in the show. Demon Slayer’s latest season ends on a major cliffhanger as the Hashiras and the other Demon Slayers are pulled inside the Infinity Castle for a final conflict against the Upper Moons and Muzan Kibutsuji. Following the glorious success of the Infinity Train film, the studio decided to release a trilogy for the final arc. The trilogy is also expected to adapt the Sunrise Showdown Arc of the manga, where the Demon Slayers fight against their strongest enemy.

However, before the Infinity Castle film’s release, Ufotable is bringing back the Mugen Train movie to the theaters, which is around the same time as Kyōjurō Rengoku’s birthday. Rengoku had a major role to play in the Infinity Train Arc, and his fight with Akaza is still considered one of the best in the show. His bravery and sacrifice made him one of the fan-favorite characters. Since the Infinity Train Arc is being released in Japan on May 8th, 2025, all the attendees will get a special Kyōjurō Rengoku Birthday Card; unfortunately, the offer is exclusive to Japanese theaters. According to the official account on X, the Infinity Train film will be shown in theaters for five weeks. Additionally, the film is being re-released on May 14th in the U.S., Canada, as well as selected international territories.

Demon Slayer: Infinity Train Film Is the Highest-Grossing Anime Film of All Time

Ufotable is known for its stellar animation, fluid scenes, and incredible fight choreography, but there’s more to the series’ success than that. Demon Slayer isn’t popular in Japan just for its spectacular story, but also because it’s brimming with Japanese culture and folklore. After the anime adaptation was released, the show became a global hit. The Infinity Train film, which was released in 2020, is still the highest-grossing anime film of all time with over 500 million dollars worldwide gross, breaking the record of Studio Ghibli’s classic Spirited Away, which previously held the record.

Rengoku Akaza
Ufotable

The arc focuses on Rengoku’s mission, where he is sent alone to eliminate a demon causing the disappearance of passengers. Tanjiro and his friends join him later on and lend him a hand. An Upper Moon Six demon with a strange Blood Demon Art was the culprit. While the Demon Slayers were able to defeat the demon, things turned for the worse when an Upper Moon Two showed up. Tanjiro and the others were in no position to fight, nor were they strong enough to defeat Akaza either.

Additionally, while the Hashiras had defeated the Twelve Kizuki before, none of them were strong enough to fight against the Upper Moons. Even so, Rengoku stood his ground and prioritized the people’s safety. He completed his mission without even a single casualty, a rare feat in the world of Demon Slayer. According to the official website, the re-release of the films outside of Japan will include both subbed and dubbed versions, and tickets have been on sale since April 30th.

Over the weekend, President Donald Trump announced plans to enact 100% tariffs on films produced outside of the United States, and this could mean trouble for anime’s growth in theaters in the country. Anime fans have likely noticed that in the last few years, the medium has gotten more popular than ever before. Thanks to the success of releases like Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train back in 2020, the popularity of anime licensing has been driven to new heights. This was a big deal during the onset of the COVID pandemic, and has yet to yield in the years since.

Anime feature films have increased in popularity to such a notable degree that not only are more of them becoming available to screen in theaters than ever before, but they are being released at a much faster rate. Gone are the days of waiting over a year for an anime feature film to release on home media, and the days of limited screenings for these films are becoming far less common as well. But if the tariff plan truly goes into effect in the United States, it could mean all those advancements would take a huge step backward.

ufotable

What Does Trump’s Tariff Plan Mean for Anime Movies?

As of Trump’s announcement on social media, the plan is to enact 100% tariffs on movies produced outside of the United States in order to promote more production in the country. This has yet to be clarified as to how this would be enforced, however, as it is also unclear as to what part of the movie’s production would actually be hit by the tariff. It seems to be focused on any part of the production that’s done outside of the United States for now, and unfortunately that also includes anime feature films that are done entirely in Japan.

If the tariff plan for films act in the same way that usual tariffs do on other aspects of imports to the United States, it might mean that an anime film will become doubly as expensive to license and release than it was before. If this turns out to be the case, it means that some films will be less enticing to release in theaters in the United States at all. Outside of major franchises already set for release like Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle, it might be more prudent for those hit by the tariffs to be more selective.

It further depends on who is the most impacted by the tariffs as that will likely be further impacting what anime films get a chance to release in the United States. It’s gone to such a scale recently that even some licensors like GKIDS are able to screen early episodes of TV anime releases in theaters to help celebrate their upcoming premieres, but if even these are impacted by tariffs they could be a thing of the past. And speaking of GKIDS, they could be hit in negative ways by this as well.

GKIDS / Studio Ghibli

What Does This Mean for Studio Ghibli and Godzilla Films?

Depending on how these work, anime films will be more costly to release in the United States so there will be less of a chance that smaller films could hit theaters in a more than limited capacity. This includes even new films from hit studios like Studio Ghibli and Studio Chizu (of which Mamoru Hosoda has a new film hitting later this year), which were already going to need the support from fans. If they get harder to release, it might mean that fans in the United States won’t be able to see them until they get a home media release.

But that’s also if these new tariffs don’t impact home media releases either. If this extends to every aspect of a production outside of the United States, home media releases might be much more expensive as well. There are still streaming options that could be in place, but films aren’t available for streaming until much longer after they end their initial run in theaters in Japan. It will be going back to the way it was before the 2020s, and there were very few of these films that actually hit theaters.

Successes in the United States of the likes of Godzilla Minus One and Studio Ghibli’s re-releases (such as the recent IMAX re-release of Princess Mononoke) have been possible thanks to the anime boom of the early 2020s, but this could be a huge step back forward in the United States. Depending on just how devastating a tariff on foreign movie production will be in the future, we could see a major change to how they’re released overall.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle will be sharing a new sneak peek at its upcoming movie debut soon, but only a lucky few are going to be able to catch it for themselves. Following the end of the TV anime’s fourth season, Demon Slayer: Hashira Training Arc, it was announced that the anime would be returning with a brand new trilogy of feature films adapting the massive Infinity Castle arc from Koyoharu Gotoge’s original manga series. Hitting theaters throughout the world beginning later this Summer, we’re about to see more of these new movies than ever before in the coming months.

This includes the first actual footage of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle in motion, but fans will be able to see it soon. The first teaser sneak peek at the new film has been announced to be releasing with the upcoming re-release of Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train in theaters on May 14th. So fans who head to the theaters to see the older movie on the big screen will also be treated to an exclusive sneak peek at what’s coming next in Infinity Castle. So it might be more imperative for you to get your tickets for the movie event.

New Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Sneak Peek Coming Soon

According to the announcement from Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment, this new sneak peek at Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle will be exclusive to the re-release of Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train in theaters, so it’s another reason why fans might be excited to see Demon Slayer again on the big screen. This re-release will also be the first time the film will be screened in 4K resolution, so it’s just stacking on reasons to seek it out. It’s also yet to be revealed if this teaser will release online following its theatrical debut either, so this might actually be the only way to see the new teaser.

It was announced that screenings of Mugen Train’s re-release in Japan would be including a sneak peek at Infinity Castle like this, so it’s great news to see that fans in the United States and Canada will get the same opportunity. This will be the first real look at Infinity Castle as when it was announced, there were only teases of a few still images from the now in the works trilogy. So it’s going to be the first in-motion footage for what’s coming next.

When Does Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Come Out?

Distributed by Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment (outside of Japan), Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle will first be hitting theaters across Japan on July 18th, and will be coming to theaters in the United States and Canada beginning on September 12th (and will also be available in IMAX and premium movie formats). This new film is actually going to be the first in a new trilogy of planned feature films coming to theaters for the Infinity Castle arc, but the release dates for its follow up films have yet to be announced as of the time of this publication.

As for what this new film will be about when it actually hits, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle is teased as such, “With the head of the Demon Corps in danger, Tanjiro and the Hashira rush to the headquarters but are plunged into a deep descent to a mysterious space by the hands of Muzan Kibutsuji. The destination of where Tanjiro and Demon Slayer Corps have fallen is the demons’ stronghold – the Infinity Castle. And so, the battleground is set as the final battle between the Demon Slayer Corps and the demons ignites.”

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is now in the works on returning for a new Infinity Castle movie trilogy, and the anime is getting fans ready with a new look at Muichiro Tokito ahead of its debut. Demon Slayer ended the fourth season of the TV anime with the announcement that it was going to continue with not a new season as fans had expected, not with a new movie, but with a whole trilogy of new movies adapting the massive Infinity Castle arc from Koyoharu Gotoge’s original manga series. As it gets ready to hit theaters later this year, it’s now time to prepare for the final battles to come.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle will be hitting theaters with the first movie in this new trilogy starting in Japan later this Summer, and it will feature the final fights between the surviving Hashira and Muzan Kibutsuji’s Upper Rank demons. This naturally includes the Mist Hashira, Muichiro Tokito, who’s about to take a new starring role after the events of the Swordsman Village Arc back in Season 3, and you can check out a new poster showing off Muichiro ahead of the new movie below.

ufotable

What Is Muichiro’s Role in New Demon Slayer Movie?

Demon Slayer: Swordsmith Village Arc gave fans a much better look at the Mist Hashira as Muichiro pushed himself to a new level against a powerful opponent, and he was one of the few fighters along with Tanjiro that unlocked their full Demon Slayer mark. Unlocking this power is why he and the other Hashira were training during the events of the Hashira Training arc, but he’ll be coming back to the spotlight as he readies to take on yet another powerful opponent in the new movies.

Each member of the Hashira ends up in a final battle against one of the Upper Rank, and all of these fights are explored through the duration of the massive arc from Gotoge’s original manga. Not every member of the Hashira makes it out alive, however, so fans are going to want to watch each of these movies very closely to see what comes from Muichiro and the others when they are thrown into their respective fights. Separated from one another through the titular Infinity Castle, it’s now time to put their skills to a very real test.

Ufotable and Aniplex are continuing the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle hype train with a new promo image starring everyone’s favorite polygamist. Tengen Uzui was one of the Hashira for the Demon Slayer Corps and considered one of the best Demon Slayers within the organization. He practices the sound breathing style, a specific technique that has the user move his weapons fast and make loud noises to damage enemies. Tengen also memorably has three wives, Makio, Suma, and Hinatsuru. He would officially retire from the Demon Slayer Corps at the end of the Entertainment District Arc.

Tengen would be given a redesign after leaving the corps, letting his hair go down and wearing a new eyepatch. Despite retiring, Tengen remains part of the supporting cast and is featured in the promotional material for Infinity Castle. The new Tengen-focused promo for Infinity Castle is part of a matching set with the other Hashira released by Aniplex and Ufotable. The promo is also part of the 100-day countdown toward the Japanese release of the film, which is scheduled for July 18th, 2025. Meanwhile, the film will release in the United States and Canada on September 12th. The movie will be the first part of a trilogy that will cover the Infinity Castle arc from the manga.

Will Demon Slayer: The Movie: Infinity Castle Surpass Mugen Train?

Demon Slayer is one of the most popular and financially successful anime franchises currently running. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train from 2020 became the highest-grossing Japanese film, smashing box office expectations and accumulating over $500 million worldwide. Mugen Train surprised overseas analysts, especially since the movie was so successful during the ongoing COVID pandemic. The film has continued to remain popular among anime fans, with 4K screenings scheduled to release in Japan and the US later this year as part of the ongoing hype for Infinity Castle.

Mugen Train‘s wild accomplishment at the global box office led to two sequels in the Demon Slayer franchise, To the Hashira Training in 2022 and To the Hashira Training in 2023. However, neither follow-up reached the same numbers as Mugen Train, with To the Swordsmith Village only making a worldwide total of $56 million, whereas To the Hashira Training only made $44.4 million. Aniplex is putting plenty of effort into marketing for Infinity Castle, including new looks at the characters and merchandise collaboration.

The company and director Haruo Sotozaki also hope to break a new Guinness World Record as part of the film’s advertisement. They are working with Gyoda City in Saitama Prefecture to create rice paddy art of Tanjiro that would span 28,000 m², surpassing the previous record set in 2015. The previous record holders were Square Enix, who did a 27,195 m² rice paddy advertising the Dragon Quest series. Aniplex and Haruo were requesting volunteers from April 7th to April 25th. With so much attention given to Infinity Castle, fans are speculating if the new film can reach the same heights as Mugen Train’s unprecedented $500 million box office run.

The Demon Slayer Corps is about to have one of the biggest adventures ever, which just so happens to be their last. The first of the film trilogy following Demon Slayer’s heroes diving headfirst into the Infinity Castle will hit Japan this summer, with the silver screen entry arriving this September in the West. To help in getting anime fans hyped for Tanjiro and his allies’ big comeback, the fashion producers at UNIQLO are preparing unique clothes so that anime fans can promote the heroes and villains that sprang from the mind of Koyoharo Gotouge.

UNIQLO has collaborated with some of the biggest names in anime, including Dragon Ball, Gundam, Dandadan, One Piece, Berserk, Jujutsu Kaisen, and more. While the clothing producers have teamed up with Demon Slayer in the past, this new crossover will focus entirely on the Infinity Castle arrival this summer. Here’s how UNIQLO describes the anime crossover, “The eye-catching illustration from the anime “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” by Koyoharu Gotouge and animation by ufotable is now available on a T-shirt. The story begins with the protagonist Tanjiro Kamado joining the Demon Slayer Corps to turn his sister Nezuko, who has become a demon, back into a human. The heartbreaking story of humans and demons, the terrifying swordplay, and the occasional comical scenes have made the series popular around the world. The latest film, “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Castle Arc,” Chapter 1, will be released on July 18, 2025.”

What Lies Within The Infinity Castle?

Demon Slayer’s season four finale saw Tanjiro and the Demon Slayer Corps dragged into the headquarters of Muzan and his demonic lieutenants. Ending on quite the cliffhanger, the past episode saw the Hashira trying their best to defeat the demon lord but coming up short. Thanks to his longevity as a demon, Muzan can seemingly only be killed by the sun, meaning that traditional methods of taking down demons won’t work against the big bad of the series.

Ending Demon Slayer with a film trilogy makes sense considering how good the shonen series has been when it comes to box office profits. Demon Slayer: Mugen Train remains the biggest anime film of all time, pulling in hundreds of millions of dollars. The movie will actually be returning to theaters prior to the Infinity Castle, letting fans once again experience the fight on the demonic locomotive once again.

Demon Slayer’s Grand Finale

The anime adaptation has been playing catch-up with the manga as creator Koyoharu Gotouge ended Demon Slayer with its final chapter in 2020. Ever since the conclusion, the mangaka hasn’t hinted at a sequel and/or spin-off series, meaning that once the anime catches up to the source material, it might be the definitive finale for the Demon Slayer Corps. Even if Tanjiro’s story is finished, the legacy of Demon Slayer will remain for quite some time.

The countdown to the final installments in the Demon Slayer anime adaptation continues, and the official X (formerly Twitter) account promoting the series isn’t slowing down with their special promotional illustrations to hype up the Infinity Castle trilogy. Their latest illustration features an absolutely gorgeous illustration of Giyu Tomioka, the Water Hashira, against a reddish beige background that perfectly fits the glimpse of Muzan’s Infinity Castle that was teased at the end of Season 4 and in the trailers for the first film. While he isn’t beloved among his fellow Hashira, Giyu is a fan-favorite, and has consistently ranked highly in popularity polls for the manga. That said, his inclusion in these promo illustrations shouldn’t be a huge surprise for fans.

Giyu’s place in the overarching story of Demon Slayer is critical to its final arc, too. Initially introduced in the first chapter of the manga, Giyu is a seemingly stoic young man who, despite allowing Nezuko to live after meeting the Kamado siblings, is a ruthless demon slayer. Of course, thanks to his early introduction to the series and the impact he’s had teaching Tanjiro how to fight demons, Giyu is given a surprising amount of development compared to some of the other Hashira featured throughout the series, and becomes a core part of Nezuko and Tanjiro’s journey despite his in-universe reputation.

Demon Slayer‘s Hashira Play a Key Role In the Series’ Narrative For More Than Just Their Strength

While Demon Slayer is a relatively short series compared to other Shonen Jump giants, one of its strongest selling points is how well it balances such a large supporting cast of characters – many of which are only featured in isolated story arcs. Obviously, one of the best examples of this is Rengoku, the Flame Hashira who was spotlighted in the Mugen Train arc of the series. Narratively, Rengoku’s status as the Flame Hashira hinted at his heroically tragic fate, going out in a literal blaze of glory when facing off against Akaza, an Upper Rank Three demon. Despite the character only really being prevalent for a single arc, his death left a lasting impact on the story. Not only did his sacrifice embolden Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke to truly begin taking their jobs as demon slayers seriously, but it also sent a disruptive wave through the rest of the Hashira.

The other Hashira are treated similarly throughout the story, and while not all of them get a “blaze of glory” moment like what Rengoku had, they are each given a moment in the spotlight to help push Tanjiro forward in his quest to defeat Muzan. It’s an interesting use of a fairly common character trope seen in shonen anime, wherein there’s an elite group of supporting characters that act as mentors or rivals to the protagonist. Tanjiro, and especially his sister, Nezuko, are seen as underdogs throughout much of demon slayers story, with Tanjiro’s mission to avenge his family and turn his sister back into a human being viewed as frivolous by the people around him. However, the Hashira’s presence in the story and their willingness to hear out Tanjiro’s plight to save his sister, coupled with each of them receiving their time in the spotlight to explore the why and how their unique fighting styles make each of them extremely compelling and lovable to fans.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is gearing up to return to screens next month with its best movie in a whole new resolution, and now you can nab your tickets to Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train for its re-release. Demon Slayer is readying to return later this year with the first in a planned full trilogy of new films taking on the Infinity Castle arc from Koyoharu Gotoge’s original manga franchise, so the franchise has been celebrating in style. One such way is a return from its first big movie that helped to bring the anime to its current juggernaut level of popularity.

Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train will be coming to theaters in the United States and Canada on May 14th, and tickets for these screenings are now on sale. This re-release will be a special 4K upgraded version of the film, so it will be the best looking version of the film yet with both Japanese and English dubbed versions of the film being available with this new showing. What Is Demon Slayer: Mugen Train?

Directed by Haruo Sotozaki for ufotable, and distributed by Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment, Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train was a huge event when it first hit theaters many years ago. It was a game changer for the overall anime landscape as it capitalized on the recent explosion of popularity of Demon Slayer’s TV anime at the time, and took it to a whole new kind of level as it exploded in theaters. It was at the time one of the most financially successful anime films of all time as a result of this box office success too, and now many more fans will get their chance to see it on the big screen.

Demon Slayer has gained a lot more fans since Mugen Train first hit theaters as well, and there is a much different world surrounding theaters than back then too. If you missed your chance to see it the first time, this is now the best way to experience the film first hand. It’s teased as such, “In a world riddled with demons, a young man, Tanjiro Kamado, and his comrades investigate the disappearance of passengers aboard a mysterious train as members of the Demon Slayer Corps, an organization dedicated to protecting humanity. With the help of a powerful ally, these Demon Slayers must confront evil in a heroic battle to bring an end to the nightmare!”

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is gearing up to return to theaters with a brand new trilogy of films, and this new trilogy is getting ready with a new look at Genya Shinazugawa ahead of the new movie’s premiere. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle is a new planned trilogy of feature films adapting the massive Infinity Castle arc from Koyoharu Gotoge’s original manga series. Picking up from the end of the Hashira Training arc seen in the TV anime series, this new trilogy will be pitting Tanjiro Kamado and the others against Muzan Kibutsuji’s final (and strongest) demonic forces.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle will feature key battles between Tanjiro’s Demon Slayer allies against the Upper Ranks, and one of those thrown into the chaos is Genya. Although he might not have been participating in all of the training that the Hashira and others were in during Season 4, he was one of the fighters across Japan who were seen pulled into the Infinity Castle at the end of the season. As he readies for a fight, you can check out a new poster for his role in the movies below.

What Will Genya Do in Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle?

The coolest part of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle is the fact that it will be adapting the longest single arc from Koyoharu Gotoge’s original manga overall. It’s yet to be revealed how it will be spread across the three different films, but each of the films will be filled with fights that fans have been hoping to see for quite a while. As each of the TV anime’s seasons have proven so far, there’s no guarantee that any character will walk away from their fights alive, so that means the stakes are going to be very high almost immediately.

That’s going to be Genya’s place in the arc, unfortunately. As a character who’s able to take on demonic traits by eating them, he’s someone who’s going to play a huge role in how one of the fights will play out. But his ability also means that he can’t quite fight on the same level as the others. It means he’s going to need to think smart about how he handles his fight, and it’s going to be one that fans will really need to keep an eye on when it all goes down.

Demon Slayer Best Fights

Written and illustrated by Koyoharu Gotouge, the story of Demon Slayer follows the heartbreaking tale of siblings Tanjiro and Nezuko Kamado. After losing his entire family overnight and watching his sister turn into a demon, Tanjiro swears to hunt down the one responsible for the tragedy while simultaneously looking for a way to cure Nezuko. The story follows his struggles as he trains relentlessly to become stronger and joins the Demon Slayer Corps. Each mission he gets while working as a full-fledged Demon Slayer brings him one step closer to curing his sister, but the risks are far too high.

Muzan Kibutsuji, the demon progenitor, gives some of his blood to 12 demons with great potential and calls them the Twelve Kizuki, a group divided between Upper and Lower Moons. Each Kizuki is insanely powerful, but the difference between Upper and Lower ranks varies significantly. However, that’s not the only thing that makes Demon Slayer fights intriguing. Each battle isn’t bound by just good vs. evil; it’s layered with personal trauma, loss, and empathy. Fans are awaiting the upcoming Infinity Castle Arc trilogy movies, the final showdown between the Demon Slayers and the demons. It will also include some of the best fights in the story.

Warning: This article contains major spoilers from the Demon Slayer manga!

Tanjiro vs. Enmu

Demon Slayer Tanjiro Enmu
Ufotable

Although the fight against Enmu was a combined team effort, Tanjiro was solely responsible for taking out the demon while the others focused on rescue. Rengoku ensured that none of the passengers died, fulfilling the major objective of his mission. Meanwhile, Zenitsu saved Nezuko, and Inosuke opened the engine so Tanjiro could easily spot the main body. However, Enmu, as a Lower Moon Six, wasn’t merely powerful, but his Blood Demon Art was insanely tricky. He can put his targets into a deep sleep and manipulate their dreams. The dreams can be horrific to traumatize the target, or they can be so pleasant that one would never want to wake up from them.

In Tanjiro’s case, it was the latter, and it was more brutal than any nightmare because he kept seeing the happy memories he shared with his deceased mother and siblings. However, when he realized that it was all fake, Tanjiro slashed his own throat in the dream so he could wake up. Enmu kept repeating the same trick while the Demon Slayer kept slashing his neck. After several rounds of this immense torture, Tanjiro finally severed Enmu’s head.

Rengoku vs. Akaza

Rengoku Akaza
Ufotable

Rengoku was only around for one arc and fought one major battle, but that was more than enough to make him a fan-favorite character. After Enmu’s death, the threat should’ve been over. Tanjiro and the others were either injured or exhausted by the time Rengoku caught up with them. However, no one expected Akaza, an Upper Three demon, to just show up out of nowhere. Of course, as a Hashira, Rengoku didn’t waste a second before jumping into the fight while also stopping the young Demon Slayers from interfering.

Without an ally to lend him a hand or a Demon Slayer Mark, Rengoku put up an excellent fight against Akaza. Akaza loves fighting more than anything, and he recognizes Rengoku’s talent before offering him to become a demon. It’s only natural that someone as honorable as a Hashira would refuse such an offer. However, Rengoku paid the price with his life, breaking the hearts of Tanjiro and his friends. His death was a major lesson they needed to grow stronger while also honoring his memory.

Uzui and Tanjiro vs. Gyutaro

Demon Slayer Uzui Gyutaro
Ufotable

Most of the Entertainment District Arc set up Daki as the main villain and the Upper Moon Six. So, it was quite shocking that Gyutaro is not only the real Upper Moon, but also significantly stronger than his sister. Tanjiro and Uzui join hands to deal with Gyutaro while Zenitsu and Inosuke fight Daki. The siblings share their powers, so their heads must be severed at the same time. The fight in the anime is not only visually stunning but also highlights how the Demon Slayers push past their limits to defeat the strongest opponent they have ever faced.

The fight was historic, to say the least. Gyutaro’s defeat didn’t come easily, it cost Uzui’s eye and hand while destroying the majority of the Entertainment District. However, the Demon Slayers also managed to achieve a feat that the Corps hasn’t done in over a hundred years. This was the breakthrough they desperately needed, before the final fight against Muzan.

Muichiro vs. Gyokko

Muichiro Tokito
Ufotable

While defeating Gyutaro with a team effort was an impressive feat, Muichiro killing Gyokko, an Upper Moon Five, all by himself, is something that never happened in the series. All of the powerful demons, especially the Upper Moons, were practically undefeatable, but Muichiro is just that special. As a direct descendant of the Sun Breathing Style, Muichiro was already talented enough to become a Hashira at the age of 14. Initially, he did have trouble fighting the demon, but being in a near-death situation helped him gain back his memories. Muichiro remembers his family and the tragic demon attack that took his brother’s life and almost killed him as well.

Once the fog in his mind cleared, Muichiro tapped into his true potential and manifested a Demon Slayer Mark, a lost technique that was quite common in the golden age of Demon Slayers. After unlocking his true powers, Muichiro easily defeated Gyokko, with astounding strength and speed that made an Upper Five look like an ordinary demon.

Shinobu Kocho vs. Doma

Demon Slayer Shinobu Infinity Castle
Shueisha

As a Hashira, it’s Shinobu’s duty to defeat any demon that comes her way. However, fighting Doma wasn’t merely because of that, but she had a personal reason for that. Her sister, Kanae, was killed by the same diabolical demon. As an Upper Rank Two, it was nearly impossible to defeat him by pure strength, especially when she lacked the physical strength to even sever the neck of ordinary demons. Hence, Shinobu made preparations for years by injecting herself with poison that is only harmful to demons.

She was fueled by rage when she saw the obnoxious demon, which only strengthened her resolve. As she expected, Doma swallowed her whole without knowing she was the very poison that would lead to his demise. Although Doma didn’t die right away, Shinobu weakened him just enough for her younger sister to deal the final blow.

Zenitsu vs. Kaigaku

Zenitsu Kaigaku
Shueisha

Zenitsu received a crucial letter at the end of the Hashira Training Arc, and he has never been the same since then. The Infinity Castle Arc reveals that it’s because his master committed Seppuku to atone for the sins of his student Kaigaku, who willingly became a demon. Zenitsu and Kaigaku learned under the same master but never really got along. Kaigaku was a prodigy who mastered all forms of the Thunder Breathing Style except for the first one. Meanwhile, Zenitsu could only hone his skill in the first form, which is said to be the most difficult form of Thunder Breathing.

After being pulled into the Infinity Castle, Zenitsu comes face to face with Kaigaku, the new Upper Moon Six. It’s his first fight where he stares right into his opponent instead of sleeping out of fear. Since the first form wasn’t enough to defeat his enemy, Zenitsu creates his own, the Seventh Form of Thunder Breathing, and severs Kaigaku’s head in one strike. Up until his last moments, Kaigaku remained an arrogant and unbearable being who refused to accept his weakness. On the other hand, this fight was a major milestone for Zentisu, who had come a long way from being a weakling who used to cry at the sight of demons to being capable enough to create his own breathing form.

Giyu and Tanjiro vs. Akaza

Akaza Demon Slayer
Shueisha

Giyu is the first Demon Slayer Tanjiro met, and he’s the one who set the young on the path to becoming one of them. The two of them always had a special bond, but we finally got to see their teamwork in the Infinity Castle Arc. Giyu and Tanjiro worked together to defeat Akaza, Upper Moon Three. Akaza proved quite a challenge for those two, even with Giyu’s Demon Slayer Mark manifesting during the battle. Not only that, but Tanjiro gained the ability to see the Transparent World, which is a heightened perception ability awakened by a special mark on his forehead. In that moment, he also managed to reduce his presence, which caught someone as perceptive as Akaza off guard.

The fight also revealed Akaza’s heartbreaking backstory. Even after Tanjiro severed his head, Akaza kept on fighting and was about to launch a devastating attack. However, he stopped midway and embraced his humanity and acknowledged Tanjiro’s magnificent technique, and expressed gratitude for being reminded of his past. As his body disintegrates, he accepts his past, his regrets, and the fact that he wants to die as a human, not live forever as a demon.

Kanao and Inosuke vs. Doma

Demon Slayer Doma
Shueisha

The Infinity Castle Arc finally reveals the conversation between Shinobu and Kanao during the Hashira Training Arc. Shinobu knew the special power of Kanao’s eyes, which grants her exceptional enhanced vision abilities, allowing her to predict her opponent’s movements and attacks. Kanao couldn’t do anything to stop her sister from sacrificing herself, and even witnessed her death. Amid the fight, Inosuke also lends her a hand as he gains back a long-forgotten memory. His mother, whom he lost as a newborn baby, died because of Doma.

Even with Shinobu’s poison, the young Demon Slayers put their lives on the line to kill the monster. Doma also acknowledges their strength, even going as far as saying Kanao is more skilled than Shinobu, a Hashira. Kanao’s precision and calmness contrast heavily with Inosuke’s wild and unconventional fighting method. Furthermore, we also learn more about the Upper Moon Two, who didn’t have much of a role before this fight. Unlike other demons, he doesn’t have a tragic backstory, and his personality is just as horrifying as his abilities, but that’s what truly makes him intriguing as a demon.

Muichiro, Genya, Sanemi, and Gyomei vs. Kokushibo

Demon Slayer Kokushibo
Shueisha

Defeating any of the Upper Moons is a nearly impossible task, but no one gave the Demon Slayers as much trouble as Kokushibo, the strongest of the Twelve Kizuki. Kokushibo is the older twin brother of Yoriichi, the legendary Demon Slayer who invented the breathing styles. In the Infinity Castle, several Corps members joined hands to defeat Kokushibo, but it was far from easy. It wasn’t just the battle, but we witnessed the heartbreaking confession by Sanemi, who pushed his younger brother away so the latter could lead a happy life.

Additionally, the series also unveiled Kokushibo’s backstory and how he ended up dying after living a life full of regrets. However, even though Gyomei and Sanemi manifested their Demon Slayer Marks during the battle, the price of defeating the demon was far too great. Kokushibo’s death was a result of Muichiro’s and Genya’s sacrifices, and Gyomei suffered the lingering effects of manifesting his mark, which took his life before the conclusion.

Demon Slayers vs. Muzan in Sunrise Showdown Arc

Demon Slayer Muzan Final Arc
Shueisha

The Demon Slayers had the opportunity to jump on Muzan two times. The first time was when Muzan arrived at the Ubuyashiki manor. That was when Tamayo injected him with a poison and severely weakened him. However, before the Demon Slayers could kill the monster, they were pulled into the Infinity Castle and forced to fight the Upper Moons. This resulted in a lot of casualties, but once all the Upper Ranks were defeated, the surviving members of the Corps challenged Muzan once again.

Severing his head, even in a weakened state, wasn’t possible for them, so all they had to do was keep him occupied till the sun rises. Unfortunately, that’s a lot easier said than done. Even with the combined efforts, the Corps continued to suffer several casualties until Muzan disintegrated into the dust.

Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle is all set to be the first installment of a three-part film series adapting Demon Slayer’s climactic Infinity Castle arc and is slated to premiere in Japan on July 18th. Unfortunately for fans outside Japan, however, the movie will not be simulcasting around the world. U.S. fans in particular will have to wait nearly two months to see the movie on the big screen, on September 12th. However, some other countries have been luckier with shorter wait times

Directed by Haruo Sotozaki and produced by Ufotable alongside Aniplex, Infinity Castle promises high‑stakes swordplay, emotional payoffs, and Muzan’s ultimate showdown within the shifting labyrinth of Nakime’s Infinity Fortress. With less than 100 days left until the movie’s release, the franchise has been hyping things up with daily posts on their official X account, @kimetsu_off. And now, they’re taking things further than ever before with a Guinness World Record. Gyoda City in Saitama Prefecture is all set to create a rice paddy art of Demon Slayer’s Tanjiro spanning an impressive 28,000 m², which will surpass the previous record set in 2015.

Everything to Know About Demon Slayer’s Rice Paddy Art

Tanbo Art or rice paddy art is a type of Japanese art where people strategically plant different colored varieties of rice to create giant images when the rice fields are flooded in the summer. The art form was first developed by villagers from Inakadate Village in 1993. Although Gyoda City is famous for taking it to the next level with ever ambitious designs that turn its paddies into vast, pixel‑perfect canvases.

The city first snagged the Guinness World Record for the largest rice paddy artwork in 2015, covering 27,195 m² across three adjacent rice fields. This was done to mark the 30th anniversary of Square Enix’s Dragon Quest series, with the artwork depicting iconic characters from the long‑running RPG. Now, a decade later, the city is all set to break its own record with a 28,000 m² depiction of Demon Slayer’s Tanjiro Kamado.

The artwork will feature Tanjiro in a mid‑attack pose, his checkered haori and gleaming Nichirin blade springing to life in coordinated shades of green, brown, and burgundy. And to allow the art to align perfectly with Infinity Castle’s release, planting will start in early June. That way, the artwork will reach its peak colors just as the film releases on July 18th, 2025, becoming a living poster visible from late July through mid‑October.

Demon Slayer Tanjiro

Demon Slayer And Gyoda City Call For Volunteers

Since every stalk must match a detailed color map, all planting for the artwork needs done by hand under expert guidance. As such, Gyoda City is open to volunteers who are interested in rice paddy art or are fans of Demon Slayer who would like to participate in this historical moment for the franchise. There is no registration fee and no prior experience in planting rice is required. All you need are sturdy boots, weather‑appropriate clothing, and a willingness to work outdoors whether rain or shine.

The work is unpaid but as thanks, all volunteers will receive certificates and a sack of rice harvested from the art field by mail in December. If you want to register as a volunteer, you can do so here. Applications are open from April 7th to April 25th. But do note that you need to be at least Junior High School students or older in Japan to apply.

Once planted, the Tanjiro mosaic will unfold beneath the Ancient Lotus Hall observation deck, where admission is ¥400 for adults and ¥200 for children. Thousands flock there each summer to witness these living artworks in person. But for global fans or anyone unable to travel, Gyoda City’s official tourism website will host high‑resolution photos, time‑lapse videos, and behind‑the‑scenes updates of the artwork, ensuring everyone can share in this record‑setting spectacle.

The one anime film that took the world by storm and surprised theater experts is now returning to the cinemas in new pristine 4K screenings. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train opened in Japanese theaters in October 2020, at the end of the first year of the ongoing pandemic. The film instantly became a box-office smash, having the highest-grossing opening weekend in Japan with 4.6 billion yen, the equivalent of 44 million USD. The film would soon open overseas, making around $47 million at the North American box office and making over $500 million at the global box office. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train is currently the highest-grossing Japanese movie.

Crunchyroll has officially announced that new 4K screenings for Mugen Train will launch in North American cinemas on May 14th. The streaming company unveiled that the film will be available in theaters not only in the United States and Canada, yet in other international territories. Distribution for the film will be a collaboration between Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment, and it will be released in both Japanese with English subtitles and the English dub. Fans can purchase pre-sale tickets for the motion picture on Wednesday, April 30th.

The Importance of Demon Slayer – Mugen Train

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train‘s success shouldn’t be underestimated. The motion picture opened when most people couldn’t leave their homes because of the pandemic. Despite pandemic concerns, the film opened to high numbers in its home country and found great success overseas. Demon Slayer was already one of the most popular anime airing at the time, but Mugen Train shot it up to a new level of awareness. The movie’s box office success in America, where it made $47 million in a questionable period of the pandemic, surprised analysts.

The Mugen Train‘s success led to two sequels in the Demon Slayer franchise, To the Hashira Training in 2022 and To the Hashira Training in 2023. Neither follow-up reached the same numbers as Mugen Train, with To the Swordsmith Village only making a worldwide total of $56 million, whereas To the Hashira Training only made $44.4 million. However, Mugen Train and other animated films at the box office, alongside anime’s growing streaming numbers and popularity among younger generations, are one of the attributes that have convinced companies to view the medium as a legitimate source of big profits. Many corporations now intend to invest much more capital in anime in hopes of making the medium more mainstream, with 2025 set to become the biggest year for anime yet.

The re-release of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train in North American theaters arrives not long before the first film of the next trilogy of Demon Slayer films. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle is scheduled to release in Japanese cinemas on July 18th, while a North American opening is set for September 12th. Infinity Castle will be adapting the arc of the same name from the manga, and it will be the first film in a trilogy, acting as the first act of the Final Battle for the series. Sunrise Countdown Arc followed the Infinity Castle arc in the manga, serving as the last half of the Final Battle, and the end of the series.

As Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle is all set for release on July 18th, 2025, fans couldn’t be more excited. But unfortunately for fans outside of Japan, that’s just the Japanese release date. Fans of the series in the United States will have to wait nearly two whole months before they can enjoy the first part of Infinity Castle on September 12th. To help fans out during this torturous wait, however, Studio Ufotable and Crunchyroll have been dropping additional content for viewers to enjoy.

Crunchyroll has added a Demon Slayer stage play and two live concerts to its already impressive catalogue and that’s not all. Demon Slayer: Mugen Train broke Spirited Away’s record the first time around domestically, and Your Name internationally, and now it’s all set to receive an even more stunning theatrical revival screening. The movie will hit Japanese theaters for five weeks starting May 9th. But fans in Japan get an additional bonus, with a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray being made available for purchase at the same time.

To Know About Demon Slayer’s 4K Blu-Ray

On Friday, May 9th, Demon Slayer: Mugen Train’s 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray will be made available for sale on Aniplex Online, Ufotable, Animate, and more. According to the movie’s official website, the limited edition Blu-ray will cost ¥7,700 with tax included. The Blu-ray consists of just one disc and features barrier-free Japanese subtitles. Along with a special box, digital jacket, and a 12-page commemorative booklet. While this is clearly made with its initial Japanese release in mind, keep your eyes peeled for additional news regarding a North American localization.

The release of this Blu-ray commemorates Aniplex’s 20th anniversary. And the distributor has already promised to re-release more of its masterpieces from the past 20 years in higher quality. One such release is going to be the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray for both the Swordsmith Village and Hashira Training Arcs.

This limited-edition Blu-ray will be released on the same day as Mugen Train’s Blu-ray and will cost ¥14,080 with tax included. Similar to the standard edition, It consists of a two-disc set with barrier-free Japanese subtitles, a special three-sided box, digital jacket, and a 12-page booklet. Other bonuses include a Ufotable making-of animation for “Mitsuri Kanroji & Muichiro Tokito”, a short animation titled “Mitsuri’s Uniform” and a “Hashira Training Edition” special edited video “Letter from the Master.” Much like with the Mugen Train film, the details of a similar release for English-speaking audiences have yet to be confirmed.

Demon Slayer: Mugen Train 4K Revival

First released in theaters in 2020, Aniplex has confirmed that Demon Slayer: Mugen Train will be back in Japanese theaters on May 9th, 2025, and keep running for a whole five weeks, the re-release ending right before Infinity Castle releases on July 18th in Japan. Even better, this revival isn’t just going to be a standard re-release. Instead, the Mugen Train Arc movie will be digitally upgraded to 4K with audio improvements.

Japanese fans will be able to enjoy the movie in three premium formats as the film releases in IMAX, in Dolby Atmos & Dolby Cinema, and in 4DX & MX4D. And this theatrical re-release isn’t an isolated case. Mugen Train’s revival is part of the “Kimetsu Theater – Demon Slayer Special Compilation Screening,” an event that’s been going on since April 4th and aims to bring all of Demon Slayer‘s current arcs to the big screen in Japan before Infinity Castle’s release to recap major events and hype up the movie.

The movie will follow the beloved plot line of Tanjiro, Inosuke, and Zenitsu working with the flame Hashira, Rengoku to solve the mystery of the Mugen Train where 40 people have disappeared in a very short time. As the four slayers (and one demon girl) investigate the situation they’ll face the demon Enmu who sends his victims into a deep sleep before devouring them. The movie also marks anime-only fans’ introduction to the Upper Moon demons in the form of Akaza, a devastatingly powerful fighter who despises the weak.

Based on the hit manga by Koyoharu Gotouge, Demon Slayer follows the story of Kamado Tanjiro. A kind-hearted village boy, Tanjiro’s life turns upside down when one day, he comes home from selling charcoal to find his entire family murdered with just one survivor, his younger sister Nezuko who is now a demon. Determined to cure his sister of her demonhood, Tanjiro joins the Demon Slayer Corps where he trains to fight demons alongside other Slayers while preserving his kind nature and humanity.

By the time Demon Slayer’s manga wrapped up in 2020, it had sold over 150 million copies. Then, Studio Ufotable came along and turned the series into a global franchise with four visually stunning seasons and Mugen Train, the movie that managed to dethrone Spirited Away as Japan’s highest-grossing film of all time. Now, the franchise is ready to break its own record with its newest movie Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle, which is all set to release on July 18th, 2025, for Japanese fans. And to hype this new release up, Demon Slayer has been running a daily countdown on their official X account, @kimetsu_off.

Kanao Joins Tanjiro To Hype Up Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle

With only 88 days left until Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle’s release, the franchise’s official X account has been hyping the movie up with a new post everyday. The latest post centers around Kanao Tsuyuri, the Flower Breathing Slayer who is also the adoptive younger sister of Insect Hashira, Shinobu Kocho. When fans first met Kanao, she was a quiet and indecisive girl, flipping a coin to make most of her decisions.

But after she met Tanjiro, her character underwent a subtle but powerful change, with the teenage boy encouraging her to use her heart instead of the chance of a coin flip. Now, as she commands the spotlight in Demon Slayer’s countdown’s day 89, her growth is obvious. Her expression is serious and slightly angry with no hint of timidness. She also isn’t wearing her white cloak, and without it swallowing her small frame, she looks more battle ready than ever.

Tanjiro also received his latest spotlight in Infinity Castle’s countdown. For day 88 out of 100, the village boy turned demon slayer hypes the franchise’s latest movie up with a standee of him in his usual green and black checkered haori over the standard Demon Slayer uniform. With a joyful expression, he carries Nezuko’s box on his back, who will most likely not be making much of an appearance in the upcoming movie. The caption of the post announces that advance tickets are available for sale at the theater box office for Japanese fans.

Everything To Know About Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle

Centering around Demon Slayer’s last arc, Infinity Castle will be receiving the three-part movie treatment. The first of these three movies is all set to drop in Japan on July 18th. But if any fans outside Japan were hoping for a simulcast, we have got bad news. Not only will the movie not be simulcasting, it won’t even release in the same month. Fans of the anime in the United States can expect to see the final showdown between the Demon Slayer Corps and Muzan two whole months after the Japanese release date on September 12th. Although some other countries have gotten luckier with shorter wait times

After a long recap, the official synopsis of the movie reads, “With the head of the Demon Corps in danger, Tanjiro and the Hashira rush to the headquarters but are plunged into a deep descent to a mysterious space by the hands of Muzan Kibutsuji. The destination of where Tanjiro and Demon Slayer Corps have fallen is the demons’ stronghold – the Infinity Castle. And so, the battleground is set as the final battle between the Demon Slayer Corps and the demons ignites.”

Best Demon Slayer Episodes Infinity Castle

Considering the record-breaking success of Demon Slayer’s Mugen Train Movie, Ufotable decided to adapt the Infinity Castle Arc in a trilogy film. Although there has been no official confirmation yet, it’s expected that the trilogy film will also cover the Sunrise Showdown Arc. The series will feature the final fight against the Upper Moons and Muzan Kibutsuji. The Hashira Training Arc in the anime ends on a major cliffhanger as the demon slayers are pulled into the Infinity Castle, where some of the strongest demons are waiting for them. However, while the story is currently in its final stretch, we have put together a list of the ten best anime episodes so far.

Demon Slayer isn’t just known for its incredible action, emotional storyline, and intriguing characters, but also for its stellar animation. The anime is praised as one of the best adaptations in recent years, and rightfully so. From the days of Tanjiro walking on the snow with a barely alive Nezuko on his back to him fighting the Upper Rank demons, the story has come a long way. So, let’s revisit some of the best Demon Slayer episodes while we await the film’s release in May 2025 for Japanese fans and September 2025 in North America.

Season 4, Episode 2: “The Sorrows of the Water Hashira, Giyu Tomioka”

Demon Slayer Giyu and Tanjiro
Ufotable

Giyu is the first demon slayer that Tanjiro and Nezuko came across, and it could be said that they were lucky to encounter him instead of someone else. Any demon slayer would prefer to kill Nezuko as soon as they realized that she’s a demon. However, perhaps out of pity, he couldn’t finish her off soon, and later realized that she was different from the others. That was the beginning of the story, and he’s been a fan favorite ever since. However, until this episode, anime fans didn’t know about his inner struggles.

Giyu not only thought of himself as inadequate, but he also had to carry the guilt of his sister and best friend dying because of him. We learn about his sorrowful past and the reason he looked so gloomy, as if he were carrying a heavy burden on his shoulders. He reached his breaking point he refused to participate in the training. The head of the Demon Slayer Corps, Kagaya Ubuyashiki, despite battling death, couldn’t help but worry about him. Since he was in no shape to meet anyone, he requested that Tanjiro help the Hashira, which turned out for the best.

Tanjiro’s enthusiastic and positive personality heavily contradicts with Giyu’s, but that’s probably what the latter needed the most. Although this episode doesn’t have flashy fights, it’s meaningful enough to be considered one of the best in the series. Giyu and Tanjiro have one of the most meaningful relationships in the story, which is why this episode was more than necessary before the final fight.

Season 1, Episode 5: “My Own Steel”

Demon Slayer Hand Demon
Ufotable

After the tragic murder of his family and his fateful encounter with Giyu, Tanjiro meets Urokodaki, who taught him the Water Breathing Style to help him fight demons. However, in order to become a full-fledged demon slayer, Tanjiro must join the Demon Slayer Corps and pass the deadly final selection exam. He trained for two years before participating, and even met the ghosts of Sabito and Makomo. Before Tanjiro, almost all of Urokodaki’s students died while fighting the hand demon, who targeted them because of his grudge with Urokodaki.

However, Tanjiro defeats the monster despite its unusual appearance and incredibly thick neck. Instead of feeling resentful for the deaths of so many, Tanjiro pities the demon who held out his hand in his final moments. Tanjiro prayed that he wouldn’t become a demon in his next life as he turned into dust. Despite losing his family at the hands of demons, Tanjiro still remained kind and compassionate.

He realized that although demons kill humans, they are also, in a way, tragic creatures who had the misfortune of turning into monsters. The rest of the episode focuses on him passing the exam and getting his own nichirin sword, one with black in color, which isn’t a good omen according to legends.

Season 2, Episode 18: “No Matter How Many Lives”

Demon Slayer Season 2 Finale
Ufotable

The fight against Gyutaro and Daki in the Entertainment District Arc is still one of the best fights in the series. Defeating an Upper Moon demon is a feat that the Demon Slayer Corps hadn’t accomplished in over a hundred years before Uzui, Tanjiro, Inosuke, Zenitsu, and Nezuko joined the fight. At first, it was clear that Daki is the Upper Moon Six, but it actually turns out to be her brother, Gyutaro. Defeating an Upper Moon without any casualties is a major win for the demon slayers, but a lot of the credit goes to Nezuko, whose flames are only harmful to demons.

Demons and any power related to them will be burned, while having no effect on a human. In the season finale, Uzui is battling with death after receiving several injuries, and worst of all, Gyutaro’s poison. Nezuko easily burns away the poison and saves his life. This again proves her powers are just too special to ignore. Additionally, we witness the heartbreaking backstory of Gyutaro and his sister Daki.

They were born and died in the pleasure district, never once leaving its shadows, even as demons. Although they were bickering after getting defeated, Tanjiro stepped in to stop Gyutaro from saying something he’d regret. In the end, the Demon Slayer Corps arrives to deal with the aftermath of the major fight.

Season 3 Episode 8: “The Mu in Muichiro”

Demon Slayer Season 3 Muichiro
Ufotable

Muichiro Tokito didn’t give quite an impression when he was introduced, but the Swordsmith Village Arc easily made him a fan favorite. After the traumatic demon attack that severely injured him and also took his twin brother, Yuichiro’s life, Muichiro suffered from amnesia for several years. He also would’ve died if the Demon Slayer Corps hadn’t found him. Considering he’s a direct descendant of the Sun Breathing Style, he and his brother were offered to join the Corps before, but Yuichiro refused them.

Upper Moons Four and Five join forces to annihilate the Swordsmith Village Arc and cause quite a lot of casualties there. Luckily, two Hashira were already there along with Tanjiro, Nezuko, and Genya, who joined the front lines. Muichiro was stuck fighting an Upper Moon Five all by himself, which is supposed to be an impossible feat, even for a Hashira. Just when Muichiro thought it was all over, he suddenly gained back his memories and manifested a demon slayer mark, something that had been lost in history after Yoruichi’s death.

This was a major turning point in the story as it confirms that as long as a demon slayer can meet the required conditions and manifest a unique mark, they can gain the power to even defeat the Upper Moons. The light in his eyes returning is also an indication that his cloudy mind has been cleared, and he has finally understood who he is.

Season 3, Episode 5: “Bright Red Sword”

Demon Slayer Tanjiro Yoriichi
Ufotable

The peaceful Swordsmith Village has been aiding the Demon Slayer Corps for centuries by forging special nichirin swords for them. Because of this, they can easily become the target of the demons, forcing the villagers to live in hiding. However, when Gyokko found a village, Muzan sent him and Hantengu on a mission to annihilate every villager. Chaos soon erupts in the village as the demon slayers take action against the enemies. Although there were only supposed to be two Upper Moon demons, Hantengu’s ability to make his clones proved to be quite challenging.

Each clone is extremely powerful, but Tanjiro put up a good fight against them, thanks to his Sun Breathing Style. It’s the original Breathing Style developed by Yoriichi, but it takes quite a lot of skill to master it. Tanjiro never mastered it like the legendary demon slayer, but he progressively improves his ability to use it, culminating in his final battle against the demons. In the Swordsmith Village Arc, he was still learning how to control it, but even then, he managed to defeat a few of Hantengu’s clones in one strike.

Of course, it’s also thanks to Nezuko for setting his sword ablaze and turning it red, giving him the power he needed. All Upper Moons have Muzan’s blood, so they share the same thoughts and memories as the Demon progenitor. As soon as they see Tanjiro with his Hanafuda earrings, wielding a bright red sword, the clones are reminded of the terror Muzan faced while coming across Yoriichi about five centuries ago.

Season 2, Episode 14: “Transformation”

Demon Slayer Nezuko Transformation
Ufotable

Even after turning into a demon, it’s almost rare for Nezuko to lose her cool in any situation. However, the battle in the Entertainment District pushed her to her limits. After saving Tanjiro from Daki, Nezuko suffered several consecutive wounds. Although she healed all of them, she also transformed into an adult version of herself with vine-like tattoos circling her body and a single horn protruding from her forehead.

She easily overpowers Daki in a matter of seconds, showing excellent regenerative powers, even better than hers. Nezuko has had several incredible moments before this, but nothing compares to this epic and gorgeous fight. However, the downside of this transformation was that she lost all reason, so much so that Tanjiro had to calm her down by singing a lullaby.

Not only that, but we also learn in this episode that the real Upper Moon Six isn’t Daki, but her older brother Gyutaro. Up until that moment, the series pretty much confirmed Daki was the real Upper Moon, so that was quite a shocking plot twist. As expected, the situation spiraled out of control when Gyutaro joined the fight.

Season 4, Episode 8: “The Hashira Unite”

Muzan Demon Slayer
Ufotable

Until the finale, the Hashira Training Arc was rather peaceful considering the rest of the story. However, things changed drastically when Muzan arrived at the Ubuyashiki manor and finally met the head of the Demon Slayer Corps. The two are sworn enemies, despite never having met each other. The location was supposed to be hidden from demons, so it took Muzan several centuries to find it, and that was only because Kagaya deliberately allowed the demon to find him in order to carry out the plan. Kagaya blows up his house, including two of his children and his wife.

Muzan was caught off guard by the sudden attack and found the demon slayers, especially all the Hashira, jumping to attack him. They’re not only heartbroken by the sudden tragedy but also facing their biggest opponent, the strongest demon of all. Even after being burned, Muzan had the upper hand before Tamayo injected a poison into him, sacrificing herself in the process. The demon slayers surrounding him are sucked into the Infinity Castle, ending the final episode of the season on a cliffhanger.

Season 1, Episode 19: “Hinokami”

Nezuko Blood Demon Art
Ufotable

The first season of Demon Slayer was the longest one ever and had several ups and downs. During the Mount Natagumo Arc, Tanjiro and his team encountered one of the 12 Kizuki, Lower Moon Five. As someone who consumes Muzan’s blood, Rui was not only strong but also had several powerful demons doing his bidding. Tanjiro and Nezuko are cornered by Rui, unable to come up with a counterattack.

In the heat of the moment, Tanjiro also taps into his Sun Breathing Technique, the one his father taught him as a dance form. The animation scene is gorgeous and is considered one of the most beautifully animated sequences in modern anime. Additionally, just before Tanjiro is about to launch the attack, Nezuko awakens her Blood Demon Art and assists him.

What’s even more commendable is that Tanjiro does all that with a broken sword, further highlighting his growth as a demon slayer. Paired with a soothing OST, the moment when Tanjiro uses his true power to attack one of the most powerful demons in existence just hits differently. The ending is also special for that particular episode, as we see several beautiful illustrations of Tanjiro and his family accompanied by a soft melody.

Season 3, Episode 11: “A Connected Bond: Daybreak and First Light

Demon Slayer Nezuko
Ufotable

The one-hour finale of the Swordsmith Village Arc is a major turning point in Nezuko’s life as it proves there is a chance that Tanjiro’s promise can come true. The chaotic fight against Upper Moon Four finally ends as the dawn breaks, but that was only possible thanks to Nezuko. After all, whenever things get tough, Nezuko always has Tanjiro’s back, even if it costs her life.

When Hantengu was chasing the villagers, Tanjiro chose to protect Nezuko from the sunlight instead of going against the demon. Nezuko kicked him away so he could do his duty, but that almost cost her life. As Tanjiro defeats the demon, he starts mourning his sister, thinking she’s burned to ash. However, he never would’ve expected she would be standing in front of him, without the muzzle and freely under the sun.

Nezuko is the first demon to conquer the sun in a thousand years, and Muzan couldn’t be happier about it. The scene is also a foreboding of what’s about to come since the demon progenitor wants to capture Nezuko more than ever now. Additionally, it’s the most heartwarming ending to a major fight against a powerful demon. Whether it’s the Infinity Train or the Entertainment District, the Demon Slayer Corps suffered massive losses because of the Upper Moons. Defeating two of them in a single night without a slayer dying is nothing short of miraculous.

Season 2, Episode 17: “Never Give Up

Uzui Gyutaro
Ufotable

Not many modern fight scenes can be compared to the incredibly animated Tengen vs. Gyutaro battle. Despite being at a serious disadvantage, the demon slayers refused to be taken out by Gyutaro and Daki. With Inosuke, Zenitsu, and Uzui being knocked out of the battle, Tanjiro was fighting the Upper Six all by himself and almost lost his life. However, it takes a lot more than losing a hand to keep the demon slayers down. Zenitsu and Inosuke take Daki away from the scene while Uzui gets back on his feet despite his serious injuries.

Since he’s a dual sword wielder, he uses his mouth to attack with one of his blades. With their combined effort, the team manages to sever both siblings’ heads simultaneously, a necessary step to kill them. However, the episode also ends on a major cliffhanger because Gyutaro’s body explodes, putting everyone in the Enterntainment District in serious danger.
